The 3 click meter is the only option w/ Jack Nicklaus Signature Edition, and it's great that WGT offers different options w/ meters.
When I play JNSE I notice that there aren't any 2nd swings, meaning you have to hit on that one swing. It's no surprise to me to note, having played JN games since almost 30 years ago, that WGT has greatly mirrored the Nicklaus gameplay (understandably) and the JN meter you will see smooth meters but also rocket meters and fast/slow/fast/slow meters, exp. at the game's end when you are under par.
Since the memory of the Nicklaus game is less than the memory of my digital watch, running the game on a PC overqualified, it's not the fault of 'the computer, or connection', blab, blab,' and all the BS you've read, that's just the way these golf games have programmed it for decades. I knew this in '86 when I took to playing several of the popular golf games that emerged. Many of us know this already because we saw it decades ago.
About the ding and off ding, I see the great players 'playing the percentages', in which I mean that they adjust their shots w/ a margin of error, so if they calculate a dinged shot the also factor in a missed ding so the ball is playable, or not lost, even if they fail at the execution. Also, the ding may be king but that's if your calculation is for a dinged shot. If you calculate for an off ding, the ding is a serf.
If WGT is realistic, it will not punish non-dingers for 'profits, other motives, etc.' or whatever you can make believe or concoct, but it will include & allow the realistic recreation of aerodynamics while applying these different common techniques of the golf swing by learned golf masters.
Again, if (big if) ...
