playing sa f9...on #3, I managed to hit it on the green, where the bunker left was actually in my line.  I took an aggressive approach and tried to hit a flop shot from the putting surface.  Laughingly, my shot went a whopping 1.9 yards.  Is there any way this type of shot can be introduced as a necessary shot?  Or at least let me take a big divot from the green so the Super can come out and yell at me?  lol

    From WGTNiv back in May..

    "Hi guys,

Chips, pitches and punches can all be used on the green with moderate success, however you will need to take the time to learn expected results since being on the green's surface isn't the "normal" situations for using these types of shots.  Flops will not work at all since you cannot realistically sweep under the ball.  The ball reacts properly for the "pick" action you'd need to play a good pitch or chip from the green.  It's just up to you guys to figure out what clubs work in each situation and to avoid the front edge of #17 at all costs, even if it means bailing out left and playing for par.

What I don't think we want to promote is the use of a club as an alternative to the putter on longer, severely breaking putts

A year ago we had exactly that issue.  Many complaints were heard about people using all kinds of shots on the green (flop included) to avoid using the putter.  It was done so much that it became a detriment to the game.  Some folks wouldn't putt at all outside of 10ft.  That needed to be corrected and thus we have the system that is in place today."
