I just tried to play a ranked round at Oakmont and was experiencing major lag. No not the meter. my meter was as smooth as always the lag was after I had clicked to make the swing. At times it took the game any where from 5 to 30 seconds to respond after i had completed the shot. I switched to the practice mode and played the random 3 hole option and had the same lag although not quite as severe.

(Edit) I just played  a 9 hole ranked round at Oakmont and only had 1 lag but it was over 30 seconds. I submitted a bug report from the game client.

As for a over taxed server. I have played at times when I know there must have been more people on than were on today and have never had that kind of lag.

Just experienced the same lag in a tournament. Wouldn't load the next location after the tee shot. Just kept loading so saved it and will return later.

Happens when you get on an overtaxed server. And don't let anybody tell you any different. I exit and restart when that happens.

And you need/want physical proof of overtaxed!... If you play on a laptop, feel the side of PC where the fan motor is, it "will" be hot, and the fan "should" be running. Turn down your sound and listen to the extra/different sounds.

These are signs of warning which usually lead to meter stutters, loading lags, Avatar/ball stutters, can't hit the ding (other then tap-in putts) and the inevitable meter spikes. IMHO

But guys i should have stated that is only happened at Oakmont that day. All of the other courses the game functioned normally. And I had no other problems. My meter was as smooth as always and I was dinging the meter as often as always which for me isn't that often. But I did hit it often enough to shoot a -1 34. And for me at Oakmont is great.

as far as i know wgt was under maintenance today therefore you may have experienced some slowness due to the maintenance tech's working on whatever they were doing.

i run a hosting company, have done for the last 8 years and it's like this.....if i take a server offline i get complaints....if i leave it online while the techs carry out their work, the server may run slow and i get complaints...

    it's a no win situation i'm afraid.

given the size of this site, wgt will be hosted on a few servers and will have top server admins to carry out all the necessary stuff like server cluster load balancing, database sharing etc

    tbe

So does that mean that you have to shut down your machine and let it cool down before you play again. Sounds like an awfully big effect an on-line game is having on a machine.
