How do you play mulch?

Is it me or is mulch impossible to play out of? I had a 20 yard shot the other day in mulch so I played half power with my 50 yard wedge. It went 0 yards! Please can someone tell me how on Earth to play out of mulch?

Three links here. Basically they all say punch it but I have good results with a full swing and the 64 wedge to get out around the green. Fairway mulch obviously needs the longer club.

Thanks Jim. I don't think the punch shot 100% power would work 20 yards out :)

That's where I use the full swing with the wedge. I'll bet you were on KIA 6 or 7. :-)

Yep I had a crazy 3iron second shot. I got a double bogey or something.
