    Hello everyone,

Bougth the G10 irons almost a month ago, until now I still can not find the lenght of my shots!!. Not a problem to hit the meter good spot (I'm now using the GI balls) but a real pussle to find the length...I concider myself very lucky when I land my ball in the length wished.....it's like the spot is very very narrow at the end of the meter!!!... am I rigth here?

Use to have the short raptors & now, I see how easy it was to hit the rigth length with those clubs, no matter how much wind I was playing with.

Are the G15 a better choise?, they are newer however, although the meter speed is a bit higher then the G10's. I am somekind of very dissapointed of my G10 irons. I can keep the handicap mainly because of my new driver, the new wedges & the great great rossa putter.

My meaning was to gain tees until legend, but at this pace (length problem) is sort of hopeless. My green in regulation still is very good...ONLY in stats! and it is because there were done with the raptors.....

Hope someone give me a hint here. Regards Eric

Eric-I'm not sure exactly what you mean by not finding the length of your shots but what I think is happening is that you're seeing the difference in the increased accuracy of the G10s over your Raptures.

Your Raptures were easier to get the distance from because they have a lot of forgiveness. You could miss the ding and still get close to the distance you expected. You can't do that with the G10s. If you miss the swing with those you are going to see a lot of difference in the distance and the direction-they don't forgive a bad swing as well as the Raptures. That spot at the end of the meter you referred to is very small with the G10s and I think this is why you're having difficulty. It's even smaller with the G15s so they won't help you.

You are definitely better off with the G10s because the ball is more likely to land where you aim it but you have to nail the swing. You can't be as relaxed as with the Raptures but you have a lot more accuracy and it is worth staying with. GL

YankeeJim raises some good points. I had the raptures too and there are other factors. The added height on the G10 irons also get held up more against the wind and stop a lot faster on greens. But the trade off is worth it especially on BPB when you can actually go pin hunting on approaches you only prayed to hit the green on before. A close to the pin shot on more accessible holes is going to land in different spots on the greens and roll different too. I'd try not to use the memory from what you learned using the raptures basically relearning the approach distances. It's hardest to live with not being able to put together those dream rounds on the easy courses as easily.

This is good advice. Keep in mind, though, he has different G10s than we do. His are still Med/High trajectory.

Yes, Mo, you're right. I stand corrected. In that case, go back to mike's post.  :-)

Thx for your replies, great info & very clear the explanation about forgiveness vs presicion.

Yes, I'm starting to understand the clubs properties, advantages & disadvantages compare to the raptors. According to my own small stats many legends play with this irons....it must be a good reason.

Not sure why but I have been playing much better for the last week. The irons high trayectory is crucial when head or back wind, not sure how much effect there is when side wind...I suppose there are also affected by the higth trayectory.

If other very skilled people can play with this irons & get awesome scores, it is only myself the one to get better....with this irons.

    Cheers

It doesn't take long but it does take a little time. Playing them over and over is what does it. You're already seeing the difference-they are why you're playing better and you only just started using them. You're trying your rear off not sure what to expect and as a result you're probably more focussed than you would normally be (like in one of those unltd tourneys) and are making good shots.

This is where these irons will get you in trouble-they do not forgive anything like your Raptors did. If you get lazy with them they will deviate like you wouldn't expect. Spin affects this a lot so be careful with it. Med/High irons you can get away with spin. They actually need it. The higher flight of the G10s allows for the ball to come down softer will less roll so you don't often need the spin. (I use the spin a lot for the distance because of the way it affects the irons.) Focus on the accuracy of them and I think you will surprise yourself. GL

I'm in the same boat as the OP, I've been playing Raptures for over a year but have also owned G10s since June.  Been trying them off and on without much success.  They really don't forgive a missed ding and that's my problem.  I guess I've got to spend the time with them as you suggest Jim, play them over and over and over again.  Sigh....
