As for the iron play helping your game.... what do you all think the purpose of a longer driver is? Being able to hit a 5i instead of a 4i.
If being 5-10 yds further down the fairway isn't an advantage, I challenge you to play a round and take one extra club on every approach shot and just hit it a little softer. See how that affects your score.
That argument is done to death here as you may imagine. I can only relay what I found, and what many others did. It really was what I saw. Also have a look at Legend Tier RGs, and fact is people do well with lower grade stuff.
BirdieEaglesby: I think the biggest complaint is that from this level, there's really nothing (equipment-wise) to work toward for several levels and we know how long it takes to move up. Quite a disincentive to play a lot (i.e. buy balls). Seems counterproductive for a company to not entice it's customers to spend money on it's products.
Like I said no clue why WGT don't put something like the R1 permanently at L93. Nothing will ever be perfect for both business and player, but that seems the last obvious why not just do it with the way the game has gone. Being constantly out driven in say MP is tedious if nothing else mostly.
TL is long since achievable by L90 these days, and it really is not the L85+ equipment in any way getting in the way of that, not in any way shape or form. Not to say you will not get the odd story how this helped me or that did........ Many have sailed through to TL by L90/91 with clubs not as good as you get now at L90, and from real tees (pre red tee rampage days). I was hoping WGT would make champ tier a little harder to hit and open up the pro shop completely but they chose to cap things in a different way (that all done to death elsewhere as well and is what is).
