29 good for me the first week of the tournament !!!

It started well with a good birdie from the average distance to # 1.

The par 3 of # 2 as usual takes his, the putt I just downhill from the medium / long distance infinity the hole for the second birdie, but par, I'll take you home without complaint.

Bad second shot to # 3, I left a putt from far away with the step in the middle, he comes up and takes home a second par; -1 After three ... the omens are not the best ...

... For with the second shot to # 4 remain short in rought (30/40) ... here is the turning point, however ... I pitted approach.

To # 5 with the second shot I put date, I am at -3.

Par 5 # 6 of arrival in the green with the second shot I putt for eagle from afar, "does not go !!" I'll settle for the birdie, I have to -4.

Good tee shot at the par-3 # 7, the average distance putt slightly downhill fifth birdie.

Ball given to # 8 with the second shot (almost pitted for eagle from the fairway), -6.

At the long par 5 of the # 9 good approach with the third shot and putt simple for -7 final.

For now it is a great satisfaction come first among Italians, who knows how long, however, there are still many good players they need to do their first round.

    Greetings to the whole community

    AlbertoBQ:

Ladies and gentlemen from all over the world...

The Pierolitfiba and AlbertoBQ productions is proud to present a new and exciting tournament designed for the WGT community, especially those who are eager to represent their own Nation in this “World Cup style” tournament.

    = THE NATIONS CUP =

    The Nations Cup Qualification Leaderboard

This tournament is designed to make each Nation compete with each other for the prestigious title of Best Nation in the WGT community!
We know you waited for this moment for a long time… and now is finally here: show the pride for your Nation, and show off your virtual golfer abilities to make your Nation shine!!

The rules in very few words:
=1=   There will be a qualification stage, where players will play to earn a spot in their own country’s Team.
=2=   Teams will be divided in groups, according to results of the qualification stage, and play a round robin tournament.
=3=   The first Teams of every group will enter the 8 Teams bracket, direct elimination finals.

    Detailed Tournament Rules

    General Rules
    - We will only look at the FLAG of the player to determine their Nation’s membership (e.g. I would be representing USA, and Pierolitfiba would be representing Italy).
    - Tournament is open to players of all Nations, with Legend Tier and above.
    - Players will need to subscribe using this thread: you can subscribe others, as long as you provide Names and Flag Nation.   Anyone can subscribe up to and no later than Sunday October 11, 12PM PST.
    - Tournament will begin October 12, with WGT week 42 Tournament.
    - To be entered in this tournament, one Nation will need to enroll a minimum of 10 players.

    Qualification Stage
    - There will be a 5 weeks qualification stage, where every player will need to compete in the WGT 9 hole single play, free weekly tournament.
    - The top 15 players of each Nation will earn the right to represent their own Country in the following stages of The Nations Cup.
Nations will still be enrolled if the number of players is lower than 15, but no less than 10 players (read next Stage rules for details on how this can impact your Nation’s Team).
The player’s rank will be determined by adding the score of all 5 weeks of the qualification stage.
Tie breaker will be the last weekly tournament result, and if still a tie, the second to last weekly score will be used, and so on until there is no tie. in case of perfect tie, we will use the order (date) of enrollment.
    - There will also be a Nation’s rank during the qualification stage, determined by adding the scores of the Nation’s representatives.
Tiebreakers will work the same way as those used for the above qualifying players: the last tournament’s score is the first tiebreaker and so on.
    - Only the first 16 Nations will be admitted to the following stage of the Nations Cup (exceptions apply in special situations: see the special rules at the end).

    Round Robin Stage
    - According to the rank obtained during the qualification stage, Nations Teams will be divided in 4 groups according to this table:
    Group A:   1,  8,  9, 16
    Group B:  2,  7, 10, 15
    Group C:  3,  6, 11, 14
    Group D:  4,  5, 12, 13
    - Teams in each group will play one round robin tournament using the following rules:
All players will compete in the WGT 9 hole single play, free weekly tournament, and only the 10 best results of one’s Nation Team will be used.
    - The Team with the best score wins the match; 3 points for the Win, 1 for the Tie, 0 for the Loss.
    - The round robin stage will be 3 weeks long, and at the end, the first two Teams of each group will be playing the third and final stage.
    Tiebreakers will be the following:
    1 - Direct match,  2 - Most wins,  3 - Lowest Average,  4 - Team’s Rank (from the Qualification Stage)

    Final Stage
There will be an 8 Teams direct elimination Bracket to determine the best Nation, and the winner of the Nations Cup Tournament.
    - According to the results of the Round Robin Stage, the bracket will be filled as follows:
    Knockouts:
    E) A1 vs D2
    F) B1 vs C2
    G) D1 vs A2
    H) C1 vs B2
    Quarter Finals:
    E vs F
    G vs H
    - Every match in the final stage will be decided in the same fashion of the Round Robin Stage matches: all players will compete in the WGT 9 hole single play, free weekly tournament, and only the 10 best results of one’s Nation Team will be used.
    - The Team with the best score will pass the turn.
    - Tiebreakers will be the following:  1 - Best individual score,  2 - Second best individual score, and so on. In case of perfect Tie, the Team’s rank of the Qualifications Stage will be used.

    Special Rules
    - We have no way to predict the level of participation to this tournament.
While we really hope in a huge participation, with as many Nations represented as possible, but we estimated (hoping for the best) a number of Nations between 16 and 31.
If the number of Nations is less than 16 or more than 31, we will make changes to the rules as follows:
    From 1 to 7 Nations:
Qualifications will decide top 4 Teams.
Round Robin Stage will decide the Finalists and Bronze match Teams.
    From 8 to 15 Nations:
Qualifications will decide top 8 Teams.
Round Robin Stage will be 2 groups of 4 Teams.
Top 2 Teams of each group will enter a final stage of 4 Teams in a direct elimination Bracket.
    From 32 to 63 Nations:
Wow, now that would really be a blast!
Qualifications will decide top 32 teams.
Round Robin Stage will be 8 groups of 4 Teams.
Top 2 Teams of each group will enter a final stage of 16 Teams in a direct elimination standard Bracket.

    - In any stage of this tournament, if any player, for whatever reason, cannot complete a round or withdraws from a tournament, they will be given a default  score as follows:
    For 9 holes -> Regular or PAR4= 45,  PAR3 = 35,  PAR5 = 55.
    For 18 holes (if necessary)  Regualr or PAR4 = 90,  PAR3 = 70,  PAR5 = 110

    Nations with few players
For all those teams who will end up not having enough players to create their own National Team, we will put them together in a single "Rest of the World" team!
This way all players enrolled will anyway have the chance to play.
NOTE that depending on the number of players and geographic locations of the Nations with not enough players, we will consider making further divisions as long as there are enough players to form such a team.

    Prizes
There really is no prize to represent your own Nation in a world wide competition!
(well… there’s also the fact we’re broke, but that’s another story LOL).
You will be known as a stalwart golfer, the best of your Nation, and you will get to know who the other Nations champions are.
Your name will be known, and your Country will be crowned as the winner of The Nations Cup… nothing pays more than this!!

Are we supposed to post our own scores or do the tournament managers do this?

    I had a 31 but I am showing as 45 ?

Sorry if it's a dumb question

Hi there K - Your score will be picked up by the Tournament Managers. They update the scoresheet a couple of times a day and any new scores are recognized at that time.

Nice 31 - that moves Aus up a couple of shots.

    Keep up the good work

    Happy Hacking

    Neil (The Hakman)

PS - 45 is the default score you get if you forget to play. when you make a score - it replaces the 45. Interestingly - if you score worse than 45 - that also replaces the 45. So if you reach 45 strokes - you are better off not finishing.

    Hello everyone!

The first round of qualifications will end today tomorrow, so if you didn't play yet, make sure you do by midnight PST (of Sunday)!!

South Africa is currently leading the nation's ranking, followed by Germany and UK.

On the other end of the rankings there are Belgium and Sweden: make sure all your fellow Nation's teammates play all rounds, to have the best chance for qualifying your team!
