Yes. I believe it was on 1/24/10. very interesting comments pro and con from Tibbs', Lee, Mr WGT and others.

And yes I totally concur, this is an incredible place. Regardless of the frustrations we all experience from time to time...;D

    It is not VEM

You mention standard deviation, MisterWGT said there is no enhancements built into the clubs performance. The Ping  i15's, and G-10 irons have 4 out of 5 dots of precision, if there were 5 dots out of 5, would there not be no deviation at all? If this is so, one dot makes one heck of a difference.

How can club deviation increase as the average lowers? It's no mistake that each and every shot not struck excellent deviates, or flies off the intended target with greater exaggeration as the average lowers. That doesn't seem like standard deviation to me. Even a excellent struck shot will move off the intended target line. That is the shot randomness programmed into the game, no? If we're using the best clubs, shouldn't the deviation decrease as the dots of precision increase?

If this is not a portion of VEM or programmed shot randomness, then what is it causing the ball to wonder off the target line with much exaggeration as the average lowers?

On replays, it would be nice if the power bar could be included.

I want to mention, this is an attempt to find out what causes the increased shot deviation as the average lowers. It's nothing that cannot be over come with practice.

I would think the deviation from a missed shot would be more hurtful to a lower average player, kinda like penalizing a miss. Not doing so would be a form of forgiveness that doesn't come with precision. Or said another way, the lower average player is supposed to shoot within whatever standard deviation is set and going outside that would hurt more. Just guessing.

Thanks for the reply Jim. WGTnivlac explained it somewhere. It may shed some light on this whole discussion.

LOL, yeah but am I all wet? I have no clue how to deal with deviation, I just accept it because I pretty much do the same thing IRL-shots go where they want to sometimes. :-D

So if a player increases their skills IRL golf or virtual for that matter, should they expect to have more shots deviate as they improve their game? This seems illogical to what the real pro golfers are proving, and takes away an element of real world golf in this game.

I play real golf to get better and control errant shots. This can be done as a lot of low to scratch handicap golfers have proved. Simply excepting that shots will always deviate IRL is a recipe to keep experience high handicap play.

In the end, this is just a game with a simulated feel for real world golf. I suppose it doesn't matter what causes shot deviations because there has to be something implemented in this game to bring an element of difficulty to it whether the element of difficulty is real or not. Perhaps the difference is between 2D and 3D.

This is still a great game to play.

What brilliant conspiracy theorist told you this?   I have probably had one of the lowest scoring averages on the game, somewhere in the 55's.  I've also had my average over 70 last summer, obviously deviations were not increased/decreased due to average.
