Hopefully a WGT staff member and/or players can help me with this: Attempting to set up a multiround tournament for my country club, I wanted to vary the green speeds each round. So I set up a three round tournament with green speeds of Fast, Very Fast and Tournament, thinking those would be speeds 10, 11 and 12. Nope...fast was 9, very fast was 10, and tournament was 12. What happened to "very fast" being speed 11? Last time I played them, that's what very fast greens are in Ready Gos. And what happened to "fast" meaning 10 and not 9? Did something change that I missed? Or is this a WGT glitch?

    pearljammmmer:
fast was 9, very fast was 10, and tournament was 12.

These are the standard values, tournament being "Legend" tournament speed
    (TM tourney being 11).

WGT is able to vary these values to decimals, and often shows different speeds in the announcements vs. game reality. The latter is called "QA from "Bielefeld" " ;)

There is also a Fast 8, which CC's can not set. Same with 11, which used to called Tournament speed but has somewhat recently been renamed to Very Fast sometimes. Also 11 speed has not been available to CC's setting either.

    I've seen the following:

    Fast 8 - not available to CC's

    Fast 9

    Very Fast 10

Very Fast/Tournament 11 - not available to CC's (game descriptions shows Very Fast but in game client displays as Tournament 11. )

    Tournament 12

    Championship 13

    Championship 14 - not available to CC's

Thanks for the fast replies...I have also seen that speed 14 called "Championship" in Ready Gos as well.

At least now I know I didn't do anything wrong setting the speeds that I did. A one digit difference in green speeds isn't a big deal to most players...but it sure is to some lol.

This makes absolutely no sense to me to have the terms and speed numbers differ depending on if you're playing a "regular" game, a Ready Go, or a CC tourney. Very confusing trying to set up a club tournament, that's for sure.

Here's the original list posted by WGTAdmin2 back on Sept 2010 when Legend tier was introduced.

    WGTadmin2:

Last, but not least, the green speeds on WGT have been adjusted for the Legend and Tour Master Tiers.  The greenskeeper has been asked to tame his inner demons and save the championship green speeds for special events. Here are the general guidelines we have given the greenskeeper for regular play (actual green performance may vary):

    Tier          Green Speed Stimpmetered

    Hack               7.9

    Amateur         7.9

    Pro                  9.0

    Tour Pro         10.0

    Master            10.0

    Tour Master    11.0

    Legend            12.0

    ColumbusStorm:
    Fast 8 - not available to CC's

That would equal "Standard 7.9" to 98%.

And, thanks Andyson for the old post - marking a decisive date in WGT's history.

My pleasure alosso!  Saved that link in my favorites as it was the day I went from Master to Legend over nite at an avg. of 64.5 IIRC.

It is my understanding the above list corresponds to these names in the Practice round setup:

Tier          Green Speed Stimpmetered   Practice Round Name

                           7.4                                               Slow

    Hack               7.9                                               Standard

    Amateur         7.9                                                Standard

    Pro                  9.0                                               Fast

    Tour Pro         10.0                                              Very Fast

    Master            10.0                                              Very Fast

    Tour Master    11.0                                              (not available)

    Legend            12.0                                              Tournament

    Tour Legend    13.0                                              Championship

    Perfect!

When 11 comes up, e.g. in regular TM rounds, it's named "Tournament 11" IIRC.

I'd still love to see someone from WGT explain why the green speed terms used (fast, very fast, etc.) and the green speed number do not match up the same way regardless if you're playing a regular round, a Ready Go, or a country club tournament. Is there a reason for all this confusion? I don't get it.

Good thread.  I've been wondering what the green speeds for lower tiers are.

    Thx
