Just my 2 cents on figuring out the browser 'fun'.
I'm on Win 7 (i7 with 8g ram and a strong videocard) and have been
using Comodo Ice Dragon for about a month now. Its core is firefox. I
find it to be the smoothest for my taste as to the swing meter, though I
sometimes need to clear the cache and watch the Flash plugin
resources. If it starts to drag a bit, I close out the game window and continue/reopen my
round in a fresh window. (I keep
the Task Manager open when I play to keep an eye out. )
I agree with PTrenter, regardless of what you use, its best to restart the game window after each round.
Prior to Ice Dragon, I
experimented with 6 or 7 different browsers since f'n IE11 starting
working like crap for me. Script errors, crashes, and that maddening "IE has stopped working' error. Maybe MS's new browser won't be a POS. Maybe I'll shoot 56 in heavy winds at RSG, too....not.
I tried Chrome, Opera, Torch, SlimBrowser and Maxthon for a while, but could not get used to the swing meter. Quite frankly, there isn't a browser around (that I've found) that doesn't have runaway resource issues, particularly with flash. You'd think one of them would figure out how to build in a resource clear/refresh once a certain threshold was reached.
Sadly,
even when the browser is working right for WGT, seems to still be other errors crop up at times and it drags like hell or crashes. (usually when I am
having a good round ;)...I try to keep an eye out for the slow downs,
including taking a few practice swings before each shot when I sense the
meter is starting to drag.)
Everyone's computer and preferences are different, but Ice Dragon's been a godsend for me. Maybe that helps someone. Forgive the bloviating. I wish I could just play the damn game without worrying about this stuff. That said, for limited costs if any if you go the free credit route, its a pretty cool game and rather addictive. I can't say I don't get my money's worth, even though I do pony up at times when I don't want to watch any Community episodes or do a survey on my favorite adult beverages.
