Very true Andy, it surely does in that book I love, the dictionary. In a book I love much, much more; The Bible, it is one of the parables of Jesus found in Luke, chapter 15, verses 11-32, and after thinking, felt it was a nice fit in this instance.  ~ sweets ~

Wonder if it's a coincidence that this happened while The Pope is visiting the US.    Makes you wonder doesn't it ?

We should ask him if the meter is smooth when he plays in Vatican City !!!  With Icon !!!

It still means the wasteful Son returning home, to a hug from the Dad....whilst the brother,who.... been toiling the fields for years ??

Now sees the fatted animal slaughtered

    Gets understandably p*ssed.. ? ;-))

    Hear what you saying ..but.

Still..a bad anoalogy for your returning friend ?

    imho.....tho often wrong opinion :)))

    Nope Andy,

Only when you apply it to a certain situation. The actual meaning comes across as "one who is gifted " (especially a younger / newer player in this case). As we all know, there are many "gifted" players allowed by WGT, and many of us who get no recognition, or want it, but, would like to at least not have their favorite go to balls taken away. Sry fer my ramble. carry on.

    Doc :(

Yes. The indolent son pleads to get his inheritance early. Does. Leaves. Spends and lives in wasteful extravagance. Goes broke. Comes home, hat in hand. Asks to be forgiven. Father gives the gift of forgiveness.  ~ SP ~

    On a further note...

( whilst looking for something puerile in MY discussions, I found this thread )

My favorite quote from the novel./ ( Bible ) is..and works in many situations today still,

"Father forgive them, for they know not what they do"

Now THAT is magnanimity in the extreme !!

Especially if you ARE a believer..

Considering what he was going through at that time.
