a way to turn off the balls on the grid.  Or turn the grid off all together.

In the Game Options. You can set it up so they go off when you swing.

Thanks for the advice, Yankee.  I guess what I really want is a way to turn off the balls while I'm trying to read the putt.  I'm used to a grid only.  I would even prefer no grid all together and to just read the putt naturally.

Be careful here. The shadows and irregular color of the grass is misleading sometimes, particularly at SA. Plus the angle you're sometimes forced to view from makes it worse because you're not looking straight on.

Another thing you might want to be aware of (as long as you're stuck with them) is the influence on your eye of the moving dots that don't factor in along the putting line. It's real easy to think big break if you're at the bottom of a rise, putting along the base-stuff like that.
