By "good/decent wind set" Jay means wind directions ... here's an example.
Player X gets a set of 16 heavy headwinds on say, best of par 5 for 18 holes...
Player Y gets only 4 heavy headwinds, 2 tailwinds, and the rest crosswinds ...
Player Z gets 2 heavy headwinds, 2 crosswinds, and the rest tailwinds ...
More than likely, they will finish Z,Y,X on the leaderboard ... and that's saying they are all of more or less, the same playing ability.
Yes ... sometimes it's a lottery. In many ready gos, if you're scrambling for par on very many holes, you'll find yourself finishing in 34th position or just withdrawing. More than just your couple of strokes.
