I have dreamed about this slow meter upgrade for a long time, and can only wish one day WGT will finally cater to the many players, especially legends, who have used and loved Rapture V2 clubs for a long time, but have given up on them reluctantly to get bigger performers to handle huge distances. I say reluctantly, thinking of those among them who are painfully struggling with crazy fast meter clubs (i15's in particular).

So WGT, what will it be? Will you at long last create a full Rapture V2 club set with matching wedges that have master type specs (a big driver -- at least 275y - to begin with), or do I keep dreaming in vain?

This would make the game ridiculously easy. Also it would probably cause a big hike in club and ball prices to cover the losses made.

Maybe WGT could limit the driver to 270y to maintain the appeal of fast meter big hitters, for players who can handle them. As for ridiculously easy, I don't agree. Exceptional players like BolloxinBruges do not seem to mind the faster meter and perform brilliantly no matter what, whereas less gifted ones like me, with lesser reflexes and an old failing memory, among other handicaps, will keep putting out decent, but not extraordinary scores, again no matter what. For such players, the upgrade I wish for is simply a more manageable -- less frustrating -- proposition.

The key tradeoff at the upper levels seems to be between meter speed and accuracy. The Raptures (and now probably the K-15s) are a great set of clubs for raising your game to the mid-upper level, but ultimately you will need highly accurate irons if you want to achieve truly exceptional scores. That is where the upper-level clubs (formerly reserved to Masters) come in, and they do carry a faster meter to balance the accuracy.

    PS

As Ping in real life seem to be cutting back or discontinuing some of the Rapture and G-10 clubs, those clubs will probably be discontinued sometime by WGT.

Another reason there will probably not be "matching" wedges is that Ping itself treats its real-life wedges as a separate line from the irons and woods (K-15, Rapture etc.), with the "Tour" line of wedges much as we see them on WGT. See http://www.ping.com/clubs/wedges.aspx Generally the Ping items on WGT track the club lines available in real life.

The truth is, if you can't ding your shots half the time or worse, the fast meter and -- in principle -- accurate master irons like the G10's or the i15's are in fact very inaccurate on a frustrating number of shots. Those with lesser reflexes -- and there are many -- are those who suffer. Either you ignore them or you pay attention to their needs. The new Callaway balls are a very nice effort from WGT, but the struggle is not over, especially when it comes to the unwieldy i15 lineup.

We always are looking to add more clubs. Whether a specific club will be added, I do not know.

But, my attitude always bee: if you can't ding it, then you shouldn't use it. That's why I cause 280 driver, not because I ding it but because I can control my misses. Also why I use rapture irons, it's because I can ding them.

Even those of us with slower reflexes (mine is due to advancing age as I am 64) can play the faster meter clubs well you just have to pay closer attention than those with quicker reflexes. Shoot my big problem now is not clicking late. It's all too often clicking too early. The slower meter clubs now are a nightmare for me as I have gotten used to the fast meter speed of the I15's. I setup a starter club only tourney for our CC and I couldn't force myself to wait long enough for the bar to reach the ding area. And that was with the starter ball. And no I don't use the slowest balls, the GI3's or even the GI2's I use either the Tour GI-S ball or on some occasions when I have been clicking early a lot I will switch to the Tour-SD ball with no feel.

AS for the new Callaway balls they are great when you ding the meter, but on those occasions when you ding early like me or late like a lot of the others with slower reflexes they only exaggerate the miss. Hit them right and get rewarded hit then poorly and you can find yourself in big time trouble.

At first, yes, if you have struggled stubbornly with fast meter clubs for a long while, going back to slow meter clubs will result in all manner of miss hits. But it is my compelling experience that I have never faired better or hit more straight shots with Raptures than with their dizzying counterparts. Why there is a pro version of Raptures that can serve a master or tour master very well, especially with high performance balls (I myself managed a 58.56 average with them), but no upgrade that would fit legend playing conditions, I don't know. Mind you, the upgrade could bear another name, just as long as Raptures type meter would be present, only with more power, spin, and precision, tho more forgiving still than the G10's or i15's.

Now, honestly, how can you fault this line of reasoning?
