Hey, WGT. Ever notice how loooooong it takes to fill a bracket tournament whenever Merion is involved in even so much as one 9-hole round of the series?

Take a hint. Precious few WGT players enjoy the play at Merion, and even fewer will subject themselves to the highly suspect programming of it at all. Surely your 'elective play' stats will bear this out.

PLEASE -- lose Merion in the bracket tournaments and you'll recognize probably a 4X turn-over time on them, profiting WGT and pleasing the players. It'd be a win-win all around.

Respectfully disagree.  Merion is a fine course.

It's not hard to avoid tournaments that include it. I do that for Best of Par 3.

Nothing wrong with Merion, I also ignore any par 3 course.

Well, like the saying goes, there's no accounting for taste. But one thing I'd suggest you'd be hard up to argue against is the obvious (to the objective observer) long time it takes to fill up a bracket tournament that includes Merion. So, that may suggest that your positive opinion of Merion is in the minority. And judging by the typically looooong time it takes to fill a bracket tournament whenever Merion is involved, it would appear that it's a narrow minority, indeed.

Well, nothing to suggest that in terms of RGs.. Merion 500c has filled up quicker than any 500c RG bar maybe StA and Cabo.. Also the 50c few rounds back used to fill very quick despite it being HW and Champ greens..

I doubt it. Merion's a tough course and players that have no game tend to avoid it.

    Just sayin'.

Well, all self-aggrandizing aside, I doubt that your doubting would be borne out by WGT stats. Again, my observation is that most 100CR brackets (tierless or tiered) fill up in the course of a single day, much of the time sooner than that. Then along comes a 100CR bracket that has the usual suspect courses (aulde standards) -- but -- one of those courses happens to be Merion.

I won't play them because I detest Merion, but I did observe that one of the recent 100CR brackets that included Merion in the lineup took over 3 days to fill. I also noted that was the case with other brackets that came along that included Merion. Bracket tourneys that did not include Merion were filling up same day. Argue that point if you wish and spare us the strut that only good players with game adore Merion. Your argument is against WGT stats.

You can claim what you wish about Merion, that it's a "tough course" when others will claim that it's not so much the properties of the course itself but that it's poorly programmed. That's to say club distances are way off from certain points on the course, several green breaks don't behave "honestly" = as per the same breaks, at same Stimp, on all the other courses, etc. (and no, Merion doesn't have it's own scale of gravity).

If you're a WGT shill, I should think you'd be jumping all over this to agree that including Merion on bracket tournaments is a loser idea for WGT ($) due to the slooooww turn-over; and recognize how unpopular Merion is in bracket tournaments by virtue of how long it takes for brackets to fill out if Merion is one of the courses. My main beef is that I just dislike having to wait for another bracket to come along that doesn't include Merion.

This is where your argument falls apart.

More people would play brackets if the par 3's and Bandon were removed. Most days you can't find a bracket without them.
