I would like to be able to break up an iron set when switching clubs. I want to carry a driver, 3-fairway, hybrid and 3 wedges. So in order to do that,  if I could  take out the 3-iron and substitute a hybrid, I could put another wedge in my bag and stay within the 14 club limit. Is there any chance of doing this?

You can't break up an iron set.  Even if you could, bringing in a hybrid with 4 iron being the longest iron in your bag, maintains about the same gap that you currently have between 3 iron and 3W...so keep that in mind.

Not being argumentative, but my point was to ask  " IF "  we could be given that option. I do it in real life. I carry a driver, 3-fairway, 5-rescue, 4-6 hybrid, 6-PW, 52,56 60 and putter. In this game, my 3-iron is 200 and my 3-fairway is 235, so there is a considerable gap to be filled. My 4-iron is 190, so if I remove the 3-iron and replace with a 210-to 220 hybrid, any gaps (20-25) is far less than one of 35 yards.

I here you Pusher.  Maybe someday WGT will let us change out our irons...but I'm not holding my breath (smile).

I can tell you have a good grasp of the gap situation.  For you new players, pay attention to this...it's important to understand proper club spacing (gaps) when equipping your bag.
