Here is a suggestion....When someone runs out of their favourite balls in game, WGT defaults back to the standard wgt ball.....If the player has other higher quality balls in their inventory why cant the next highest grade ball be used from that point instead of going to the worst ball in the game?

It should 100% be this way...

Unfortunately, WGT would then not be screwing you over and forcing you to buy multiple packs of different balls just to be able to use the previous ones.  After all, their aim is to squeeze every last buck out of you.  That is why you have avatars, drinks and clothes popping up instead of new courses, or improvements to the actual game play.

It is a great game, but just dont expect to get great value or bang for your buck.

Screwing you over? Like it's WGT's responsibility to tell you you're running out of balls. Very intelligent post.

Golf rules say you can't change balls in the middle of a round. Ever see Tin Cup?

No, its not their responsibility to tell you you are running out of balls...nor did I say it was.  Read the post a little closer.

They are screwing you over by not allowing you to continue playing the ball to your liking, so if we are talking golf rules, where in the USGA rulebook does it state that a ball has a maximum number of uses?

Your response was in agreement with the OP's about using other balls. I read the post and understood your take. You agreed with him and further emphasized it above.

There is no rule about balls wearing out-that's silly. What's even sillier is you saying you're  getting screwed by the rules of golf that WGT chooses to stick to.

Solution: Before replacing the ball with a starter ball, WGT gives the player the option to buy a fresh sleeve of balls. After all, you can visit the pro shop during the game, why not just when you need it most? If players aren't caught w/o their favorite ball, and the pro shop sells more balls, it's win/win.

Good idea, Z. Even easier would be a pop up or flashing something to let you know you're down to the last ball. Once would be enough because then the monkey would be on your back.  :-)

I'm thinking of how this translates to real life golf and I'm seeing a funny scenario.  We're a foursome on the 14th hole.  Jason plinks one in the pond, looks in his bag and is out of balls.  So he asks the entire foursome to wait while he runs back to the pro shop for more balls.  I don't think so.  I'm gonna give him a starter ball out of the deep recesses of my bag.  Yep, a semi-beat up ball with low spin and distance characteristics I found in the woods six holes back.

Well, the idea under the Rules of Golf (if the option of a specific ball for a stipulated round is chosen) is that as long as you play the same ball, it doesn't matter where you got it-- bummed it off your opponent, sent the caddy back to the clubhouse, fished it out of the pond, or what have you.

You do realize that you can go to the pro shop anytime during your round before you run out of balls and buy the same type of ball and it will be added to you inventory. You can do this by clicking on you name above the menu and select inventory and go the pro shop from there. I have done this a few times.
