Does anyone find that when you are close to the green with the front pin position the 50 yard wedge plays short.

Example: 25 yards to pin, I play a FULL shot to the middle of the meter. Should be close yeah. Should the ball be going 11 yards into the water. Newish ball lost, ore money to WGT.

How many balls are lost because of this. It is just not accurate.

50% of the meter does not represent 50% of the potential distance, it represents 1/2 of a backswing.  Half of a backswing does not produce 50% as much clubhead speed as a full backswing.

    Cheers.

I get what your saying, but on many other holes it gives me more or less the required distance. Although I tend to play it a little longer just in case.

    ^ what he said.

With a 50-yard club, you should be hitting 25-yard shots with roughly 62-66% power.

At the same time: if you not going to use pitch or flop, then why get so close? lay up to 50 and hit a full shot. Not only it will fly true and right distance but you will be able to stop it much faster.

Take your 50-yd wedge and hit a punch shot with full bs (the max is 41 yds). It checks up well and you can comfortably use it on any shot from 25-41 yds, depending on circumstance.

Another shot that may work for you in that close, is a flop. It's done wonders for my game. I'm no where near the caliber of the above players but their tips & suggestions in the forums have got me where I am today.

I'm unsure of your yardages for flops with your wedges but for me, they are 36, 31 & 19. "For me", I've found I can control the distances quite nicely with the new Callaway (s) balls.

Bollox is right of course,  50% of a shot doesn't give you half the distance much like in real golf.  From the distance you mentioned, you should be hitting a flop is you can't control your full shot since it is much easier to control.
