Would the amount of credits I'd spend on renting a driver be subtracted, in addition to 10% discount, if I decide to buy that club?

    Nope.

The discount only reduces the rental costs from 15% to 5%. Thus, by renting+buying, you pay 105%.

Doesn't make sense to rent then, someone suggested to rent before buying to save but it seems that I would lose credits if I'd do that.

The calc becomes positive if you benefit from free rental days - more opportunities, real 10% saving.

Rumour has it though that these are becoming scarce due to the free rental hours after tier-up. Thus, search and ask in the forums becomes essential.

If you end up buying them, that's true. But the point of renting clubs is to prevent the downside of just purchasing clubs without knowing how well you'll like them. Looking at it from that perspective, it can save you credits because you don't end up spending money to buy clubs you end up not liking.

I understand that part, just saying that I was mislead to think that I would actually save credits if I rent first...

Fair enough. Personally, I only rented a couple of times and when I had extra credits. For most of my purchases, I simply searched the boards to see clubs people were recommending. That served me well.

Yup, that's sounds like a good plan to me too.

On level up, I often rent, play a couple of rounds, then decide. Last time, I bought both clubs and grabbed the discount. Smart move WGT. "Free" is still the most powerful word in marketing.
