I totally agree with Dorkfeatures (Doug) in that this has been and still is a great game.

But being great does not mean they should not strive for perfection.

Chad and Co have built a top game, but either he no longer had the vision or the drive to take it to the next level, or he is a great start up leader and stopped investing once the game made it to a certain level with the view to sell, I don't know.

I do not expect wholesale changes immediately, as this is a different type of business for them, but I do hope the new owners have a vision and are transparent in their goals.

But I hope during due diligence they had the sense to question the 14 million users number, as if their projections were based on that, we are in for a rough ride lol.

    Answers on a stamp.

LOL....Well these forums are small so we are hardly sending back the tide with anything we say.  I strongly suspect you could put all the answers going on that stamp, and still have space to lick it :)

    bubbsboy:
matchbox size screens shooting at clowns mouths (sounds like a film i once watched errrrrr) and getting sirens to sound etc etc etc.

    bubbsboy:
watch their hubby wack some balls whilst feeding your 4 year old skinny fries and sipping pepsi, in more luxorious surroundings?

Wonder what the new owners will say if the clown keeps getting beaten up most from the internet cafe :)

EDIT: I want to stay very much glass half full for now though.  Going to hope some spare dosh is around, and intended for the virtual golf side of things.

    +100 to Bubbs!

Arcade games, that's more popular, brightly coloured targets and formats suitable to the shortest imaginable attention span of the crowd.

I'd rather hit the real fairways today!

This is the next level for him. His vision was always one of a golf community and that just got exponentially larger.   :-)

    Re:  Pre-Production of Erin Hills

Since you brought it up (and maybe I've missed it), any dates blocked out on that course for "shooting" purposes.  It might be interesting to observe...

This is going to be for real golfers who can actually hit a ball pretty well.  That's going to massively reduce the size of the golfing community we currently have here.

I wonder what all the gamers will think when they discover how easy WGT is compared to real golf.

No more blaming VEM when that topped drive goes 20 yards.

First let me say this.....even with some of it's flaws, WGT is the best virtual golf game out there bar none.  It's totally unique.

I would also like to congratulate MisterWGT on the merger and I think it will be a great thing for this game in the long term

But I bet that MisterWGT just made enough money to keep himself awash in virtual Nike RZN Black Balls for several lifetimes.  Not that I think he doesn't deserve to rake in some dough.....he and his partner definitely do.  They came up with an idea, worked hard and turned it into a fabulous online golf game.

So how about doing something for the players right off the bat to help celebrate this exciting (as well as profitable) merger ?

How about cutting the price of balls and equipment 20-25% across the board.  Or keep the prices of the balls the same but increase the ball life from the paltry 2.5 that it currently is to at least 3.5.

Let the players benefit a little from this as well.

After all, if we all weren't on here playing and buying equipment, there would be no game to begin with :)

    TOPGOLF CORE VALUES

Interesting!  WGT's got some culture changes to make IMO.  My thoughts:

We are flexible and agile, always evolving and always progressing. Well, WGT new course introductions have gone backwards for one thing.

"Good enough" is not in our vocabulary...we don't settle for anything less than greatness.  New WGT features/releases full of bugs.  Releasing half of a long awaited and overdue course.  Too many user work arounds.

We show curious intelligence and push the limit of what we think is possible.  We hustle. We persist.  How many times over the years have we been told 'that can't be done'  or 'its not changing'?  How long have disconnects in AS and Match play been a problem?

We are empowered to make things right for our guests.  Appears limited to Customer Service and the Mods.  Can QA stop a release because they know the players will be upset with the bugs?  Can a dev say no to a new feature because they have many bugs to fix?

Why? Game fixes, yes, but culture? What is going to change for you and me now? I'm sure not going to go looking for a TG range and spend who knows what for a single experience and I doubt you would either. Just like a ton of others that play here. So that begs the question, who benefits here?

I'm choosing to believe the enhanced resources are going to improve the game, to include future courses like next year's Erin Hills, maybe at a faster pace.  Suffice to say, I'm satisfied WGT isn't going anywhere anytime soon, warts and all. Now let's see how they handle it.   :-)

Well ,lets hope that new management will find a way to stop some of these helps that players are using.

There are a few players that have all of a sudden have become super players. We can only hope that with the hiring of new employees some will find a way to stop these help programs.

I just hope that WGT will not be a 3-4 year write off,for TopGolf. Because why would a company that had such a low o pion of virtual golf want to partner , also why would a company as WGT want to sell out to a driving range? Maybe I don't understand big business, but my gut is telling me it was a wrong move.

Only time will tell, so good luck and lets hope that everything turns out for the better for everybody
