The longest 5 minutes on the planet is waiting on a quitter's time to expire.

Let's knock that down to 2 or 3 minutes. That's plenty of time for someone to reconnect right?

Often when the Internet connection goes down for a "quitter", he does not notice it immediately and sit there staring at "Loading" having no idea he is dicoed until the game pops up a message (if it does). At this time, more than one minute has passed. Then it is usually a good idea to restart your browser before connecting again. I think 3 minutes is not unrealistic for that and if it goes faster, well, then they are in quicker.

I remember my old Dell laptop, Windows XP, that I had until a year ago. If it crashed it took close to 5 minutes to get it ready for action.

So no, I think 5 minutes is reasonable :)

It is very impolite though when people just close their browser and quit without intending to reconnect, forcing the opponent to sit there for 5 minutes. Should go into the stats. Maybe a "Being an Ass" award. If you see someone has a Crystal, you kindly reject the invitation :)

Good idea, we should have a quit without opponents consent award, and the award should be in a prominant place next to trophies, not miles away like longest drive

I'm with doodles on this one.. if im forced to wait on a player who quit or was disconnected i just open another browser (which i usually have open anyways) and spend the 5 minutes doing something else (usually trying to qualify for surveys.. seems to be a good way to pass time between shots and during disconnects)... or even going to get a drink or something else.. 5 minutes is not that big of a deal especially if it was an honest disconnect.. i appreciate having the time to get back in the game as does the rest im sure.
