I was wondering if anyone can give me some advise. I do not use my 3 iron much since i got my new hybrid. Why can i not substitute it for another wedge. Any info would be really appreciated. Thanks

Unfortunately the way the iron sets are designed, there is not a way to pull out the 3 iron and replace it with anything.

Generally, it's the hybrid that gets ditched for the extra wedge. I've never heard of anyone wanting to replace a 3 iron.

Surprised you missed the posts!  Here are two:

    Trading a 3 iron for a wedge

    Substituting hybrid for 3i

Maybe the posts were made on one of the 20 or so days per year it's warm enough to go outside in Canada? ;-)

with this global warming thing, it's up to 30 days per year now..:)

at any rate, he can't swap out the 3 iron, thus most people (best of my knowledge) forfeit the hybrid for the extra wedge.

Would it make members happy and WGT some additional sales IF:

WGT made a club sets without a 3I but engineer the 3I spot to the specs of either a 100 yd wedge or a hybrid.  Basically WGT does the substitution of a wedge or hybrid for the 3I in the set.  These specialty sets are constructed with the most popular iron sets and substitute the most popular wedges, at certain levels.

Gee, maybe even consult with the top players to get their input......."This custom set is designed with a new Adams hybrid with 5 dots of spin in place of the Vapor 3I with 4.5 dots of spin and is perfect for playing Bandon Dunes, etc."   "This custom set has a Clev 100 yd wedge freeing up a slot for a 4th wedge or a hybrid to replace the normal 3I.

    Just thinkin' out loud.....

That makes a lot of sense and is very reasonable...that generally means it will be dead on arrival with WGT.

    ps...I'm also thinking out loud

Thanks to all who gave me advise (good and bad) on the 3 iron dilemma. problem solved, i dumped the hybrid and got another wedge. Seems a shame that we are not able to customize our bags. I know from personal experience that a 3 iron is not a good rescue club out of 1st or 2nd cuts of rough. Thanks a bunch for all your help especially "andyson" looks like you somewhat agree. Anyway I will sign off, I think my igloo is beginning to melt. LOL. Thanks.

So why can't you re-code the sets to allow this? When it is clearly a function that (A) people want, and (B) more closely approximates real golf?

It's the same with the drop rules not being followed. People have griped about drops being wrong from the beginning and it's never been addressed. I've come to realize that you just don't care to make the game more realistic.

I have noticed the free drop also, it is  suppose to be no closer to the hole i think, On one green if you stop on the cement they put you 25 yards away over the water when you were only 3 yds to start with.
