I fully agree with you tbe, this is a programmed game that gives programmed and expected results within the confines of the built-in deviation. I don't hear anyone saying that a 12 mph headwind should always take exactly X yards (or X %) off of a shot. What I DO see however, is a lot of folks complaining about just how unpredictable and extreme some of these programmed deviations are.
It has always been, and continues to be, one of my biggest pet peeves, especially when the launch angle it taken into consideration. Sure a stronger wind should result in more deviation, that's to be expected. But when you aim half way across a green to counter for a cross wind, and miss that 'ding' by ever so slightly, it should not affect the launch angle The ball should still START where you have aimed it, and then react accordingly. I have seen countless times, where the slightest of mishits downwind of the 'ding' start the ball of to the downwind side of the pin, and seem to ignore the aiming marker right out of the box. Many here have commented about aiming upwind AND missing upwind in order to make the right shot. if this is the case, then why even have the center of the target as an aiming point?
