Wedges in the Rough

  Been hooked on this game for a while now. But I still can't figure out the wedge distances from the rough. I just hit a 50 yard shot with a 64 degree wedge (max 60 yds) from 40-50% rough. Into the wind too. Can one of the LEGENDS assist or is this just another one of those WGT thangs!

  Hi,

  Inc comparison, wedges work best from any hazard than other clubs.  With a caveat...If you miss ding, the way will lose alot more distance/go further off line than from fairway.

  With that said, distance varies alot due to different rough, where you land/it's slope, wind, the balls & clubs you use. But, generally this is what I imagine: 250-25 rough add 3-5 yards, 30-40, 7-10 yards, 40/50 10-15 yards.

  As each course had different characteristics more information is needed;

  o Which course

  o Wind speed

  o Uphill/downhill deviation

  o How far your shot went versus how far you needed it to go

  o Did you use any added backspin/topspin?

  o Type of ball; makes a bit of a difference depending on the yardage

  I'm sure others may be able to give you a relatively simple answer as I'm by no means an "authority" here.  But, I'll do my best to help you.

  Hey Steel (I'm not a Packers Fan BTW)

  Kiawah #7 Par 5. Wind speed was 14 mph right to left, but more hurting than helping. Looked like an uphill shot. I was just outside the left hand bunker in front of the green. I needed to hit the shot 38 yards. Tournament greens, no spin added. Using GI-SD Light Blue balls. Final shot length was 50 yards.

  wont work, be happy you got 50

  it took 10 yrds from you so adjust accordingly

  BadD,

  Solid inquiry--and with all humility I really don't see that many 40-50% rough shots. So when I do and I hit the ball 15-20 yards further than I think I should, I'm looking for assistance. However, you do have a good point!

  Got another question for you--I played today, but didn't get the bonus points for playing mult days in a row. It there an issue with the system or does this happen to everyone?
