    I'm new to the game and I'm wondering when is the best time to move on from the starter clubs and which clubs to buy first!

    Driver seems like the logical one for entering Pro tier but I'm sure I'm wrong ahaha

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    My first choice would be two short wedges, from L38 on.

    Next, a driver and irons (L31 if you can afford), or a 3WD instead driver.

    The putter would be last, Ghost or any other of 500+ cr.

    With the custom clubs, think of custom balls, B-ES or Tour-SD. Beware that they wear and get lost.

    +1

    Unlimited budget....different matter, but purchases in the earlier levels will not last as you tier up.

    Paul Alosso is offering great advice here...as usual. It is amazing how important the better wedges truly are. Nothing impacts lower scores quicker. Having said that, new, more correct sticks are very important. To always be positioned to obtain upgraded clubs will allow you to keep in step with the improvement in your play, which happens naturally with time. Nothing is more heartbreaking than being held back by using clubs out of pace with you.

    What's worked was improving set of irons and as distance between them and hybrid was the same, I removed Hybrid and included a third wedge.

    I used to have:

    * Taylormade Rocket Bladez (Graphite) (L15) Iron Set (Shoots 200 to 110 yds)

    And I still have and I find them really useful:

    * Ping Tour Wedges 64-60-56 (L41-42) Wedges (Shoots 90 to 60 yds)

    Meter can be fast, but once you get used to, they are really a good upgrade.

    Regarding putter, I got

    * Taylormade Spider (L19) Putter

    which worked fine for me for quite some time.

    Hope it helps

    Thanks for sharing, but I have to put some salt in:

    tinchoss:
    * Ping Tour Wedges 64-60-56 (L41-42) Wedges (Shoots 90 to 60 yds)

    There are no more 64° wedges from Ping which makes this set pretty useless without a 60 yds club. We may only use the 60° in conjunction with a lower ATV or Cleveland.

    tinchoss:
    * Taylormade Spider (L19) Putter

    I object against this one because frequently, the putting skills of a player fit to the Starter putter at this level, and better putters are coming soon, at L35 and L55.

    When I first started out, my first purchase was a golf umbrella...I don't recommend that. Probably better to go with Alosso's advice..:)

    Some other non-recommendations for beginners:

    - 2 (in words: two) complete sets of clubs, auctioned at ePay,

    - a pair of golf shoes, not water-resistant.
