                   Hi all,

While mapping yardages I'm running into a bit of a problem. All my dinged tee shots with irons are flying about 5 yards further than dinged shots off the fairway.

Does anyone use 2 different yardages, one from the tee and one from the fairway?

                                                                                            Jacko.

Everthing goes further off the tee.....important to remember / map that on P3's.

Other than that....keep hitting the flat / light green stuff.

Andy is, of course, correct ^^^

That's why I always use a tee for long putts.

I deduct 2% from the distance needed when playing a par 3 hole. So a 208 yard par 3 I would play it like it is a 204 yard shot. There are holes that play longer or shorter than the distance shown but the 2% deduction works pretty well on most holes.

I don't deduct anything. I just know from many years of whacking the little white ball around that, all things being equal, the ball goes further when hit off a tee than off the ground. Jeesh, that's why they make tees. Pretty simple physics at work here.

In real golf with the driver because having the ball off the ground effects both spin rate and launch angle. Would be zero difference in yardage with any other club. Unless a person who hits 3 inches behind the ball hits it further off a tee due to better contact. However thats more about the strike and angle of attack.

In truth too some, my question is probably a little nit picky, but it's all about getting the little stuff right in this game if you want to improve.

Yep,  I usually just take a few yards off the distance when figuring out what to hit.  In real life, I sometimes will play par 3's with no tee if the yardage is close to a full swing shot for one of my irons.  Sometimes it's just a bit longer than my iron shot from a fw so I know a tee will make up that small gap.

I need to remap my irons from the tees,  I usually try to get a low neutral wind and map the carry distance with no spin.  Example,  for me,  my 4 iron 210 yd will go 220 with no spin from a tee, and my 180 yd club goes 188 w/ no spin.  Easier than trying to choke a 195 yd club with spin.
