Adobe issued an emergency update to its Adobe Flash Player software today after researchers discovered a vulnerability that was being exploited to deliver ransomware (variants of Cerber ransomware). Flash has over one billion users, so odds are you are affected by this update.

This was sent today by my antimalware software company        I can't find any update from Adobe..

The Emergency Adobe Flash Player update patch is available for Windows, Macintosh, Linux and ChromeOS computers. Anyone using one of these platforms should update. The attacks are largely targeting Windows 10 users but have been seen on other platforms as well.

    • To download the update, go to: https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
    • The page will include instructions for downloading and installing the update depending on the device you are using.
    • Once the update has been downloaded and installed, be sure to close your browser and reopen to activate it.

Obviously, installing the latest updates all the time is important, but you must always backup your O/S, files and data in a regular basis. (Using Ghost and having 3 extra portable hard-disks and 1 cloud service in my case.)

Whether it's got infected or not, I usually format and restore my O/S once a week or two.

    Phew,

'cause I remember the heartache / hassle's / hair tearing, back when it really fooked up everything !!

No one on this site could get a smooth meter till a few helpful souls found a version that worked and taught us all how to get rid of 'pepper',? I think it was..

    Mad times ! lol

Quiere decir "Operating System", o sea "Sistema Operativo" en tu lengua como Windows 10 por ejemplo.

And you can't always count on luck in your life, you know... That's why you need provisions and back-up plans. ;-)

WOW,  that must be time consuming.  Why would you get infected in the first place!!!!

Are you restoring your O/S from a backup image.  If thats the case, how do you know that the image is not infected.

I just uninstalled flash then installed the latest version. Thanks for the warning.

    From a recent time.com article:

"Adobe notes that the vulnerability has been actively exploited on devices running Windows 10 and earlier with Flash Player version 20.0.0.306 and earlier."

Not really. It takes only about 20 minutes.

Why would I get infected in the first place? Well, normally I wouldn't, but while watching some free videos and ads to gather credits here on WGT, sometimes filthy & nasty malwares not to mention ransomware infiltrate to your PC system through vulnerable Adobe Flash Player.

Yes, I'm restoring my O/S from a backup image and I know it's pure because I've made an (well, actually several) ideal ghost image of all-clean state with all the latest updates for windows & installed programs before I start doing 'nasty' things with it visiting all kinds of sites and/or installing bizarre stuff.
