Round 1 71 with stats at 1:06.21 and club proof on return to the game client at the end of the vid.

Tough b9, with some mis-hits on the last couple possibly spoiling a sub-70 chance. Apologies for the length of the video, but I found a weird bug on the first hole where my usual driver was showing in my hand with no option to change it despite having a full bag of starters equipped. Luckily a browser refresh fixed that. Then I had an interruption on the 2nd hole and slow loading on the 10th green.

I'll sponsor a sleeve for the most birdies or better category again.

    Hi all,

Thought I'd have a go at this.

Well, the first round sure lived up to its name. Bogeys on the first 3 holes, but got a couple of shots back, and managed a few nice saves. Highlight of the round was this approach on #12:

You soon learn to play away from the pins and it requires a lot more creativity. Notably #10 with the nasty front right pin. Strong wind and ball below your feet, the cliffs await... and that's exactly where mine went! A nice quad bogey on the scorecard to start the back 9.

On the whole, it was fun in a tactical sense. Sometimes you have to play conservatively, take bogey at worst and move on. But yeah, that's much easier said than done. ;)

Anyway, here's my greenshot, scorecard and stats (click to enlarge):

P.S. Just wondering, is there any reason for not including proof of the starter irons used?

Not too bad other than the snowman on #1 and doubles on 9 and 17. There are a lot of birdie chances out there.

How did I get an 8 on #1, you ask? Simple. I started this round last night around bedtime, underestimated the effect of a 26-28 mph headwind, sliced another shot into the rough, calculated the wrong numbers and hit an 8 iron 30 yards over the green from 86 yards, avoided running the recovery shot over the green by landing it short and keeping it there, flopped a flop of a flop that still didn't get on the green, then chipped on and two-putted. Easy peasy.

Then I missed a 10-footer for birdie on #2 and decided to save the rest of the round for today.

    Highlights:

http://www.wgt.com/replay.aspx?ID=962b664f-ad49-4b7b-a5d3-a5e900371d32 - approach on #4 to 4.5 feet (but missed the putt from above the hole)

http://www.wgt.com/replay.aspx?ID=2c41de5a-8100-460b-8afa-a5e900380674 - tee shot on #5 uses wind and slope to roll within 2.5 feet

    http://www.wgt.com/replay.aspx?ID=2d556bab-87d5-48c9-b86c-a5e90039d465 - 17 ft birdie putt on #7

http://www.wgt.com/replay.aspx?ID=e38e7667-183e-4150-a6a2-a5e90041071d - bouncing it down the cartpath on #14! If only I hadn't hit a tree first.

http://www.wgt.com/replay.aspx?ID=1c382768-6a68-41a9-8417-a5e90042cf3d - 9i off slightly downhill lie on #15 actually checks up when I want it to, then trickles down to inside 2 ft

Ah right, so if custom irons were used, does that mean it wouldn't let anyone start their round? (Not that I'd want to test it or anything).
