If realism is what you're after, then why not price equipment more like the real-world?

Specifically, in relation to other items.  For example, when I look at the PING i25 irons in the real world; I see pricing at $999.  WGT pricing is 1795 for a mid level set of i25's.  That works out to about a 100% markup of points to dollars.

When I look at golf balls, the Srixon Z-Star XV is $45 a dozen in the real world and 225 points per sleeve in WGT.  That works out to a 1500% markup of points to dollars.

Put another way, in the game, you would spend as much on 2 dozen golf balls (1800 points) as you would on a set of PING i25 irons (1795 points)!!!  REALLY?!?!?!

    I suppose dedicating free time on something like this is fun and interesting. I haven't tried it. I know when I peruse aspects of clubs & balls I don't bother looking at price as I don't see how it has anything to do with improving my game. I get wrapped up in the nomenclature as it my relate to me....interesting arithmetic, by the way ;-}

While it's true that the price of some of the balls here is way OTT we have to bear in mind that the money to keep this site going has to come from somewhere and ball usage is almost certainly the major source of income for WGT.

If they made balls cheaper they'd have to make clubs way more expensive and perhaps move them out of reach of those who play with a small budget.

There are balls out there that play well and don't break the bank though, the old faithful Tour SD at 65 credits a sleeve is great value if you can get away with a quick meter.

I don't know about points (mobile issue?), but talking about credits, you must not compare it with the real game of golf.

Ev1 may judge the price of clubs for himself (I find them over the roof for new products), but balls is another story. In this game, they represent all the extra costs of the game, at least ball and green fee costs.

Bad thing is, they cost with every shot, a constant drain of credits.

Good thing is, we have the chance to decide how much the game costs - I like it!!

Hey Walt (KNOCK, KNOCK) is your calculator broken? You say Srixons (RW) are $45/dozen (or $11.25/sleeve) and WGT prices them at $2.25/ sleeve & you think that you're being ripped off? (RW PING) Clubs are $999.00 are being sold for $17.95 and this is a problem??

You're Profile page says that you've been here since 2009 and now you see a problem?  I'd have a problem paying 99,900 credits for a set of Irons but 1795 --- not so much ......

    Play on  - it's entertainment - enjoy!

Reading his profile page, the OP has spent very little on this game...in time or in $$. This forum seems rife with people alluding to the high cost of this hobby, even using pejorative and inaccurate terms, when they are usually the ones spending the least amount of money or time on here. Remember that one guy who suggested a design for a new putter?, including a suggested price. He put a lot of work into that proposal, and it was a beautiful design. But he would have been the last to person to actually buy it...lol

Been a member since 2009, is a level 45 TP who uses starter balls and starter clubs, except for a couple of low end upgrades...whatever.

You are welcome to post a cost benefit analysis, or buy a loaf of bread to feed the ducks (that's cheap...and watching paint dry is even cheaper), or you can do as Wheels suggests, and just enjoy the game for what it is. Like any past-time, you get out of it what you put into it.

Missed the point completely.  Not whining about pricing, simply suggesting the price scheme more accurately model the real world if WGT wants to boast about being a "real-world" experience.  Bring the ratios into line with the real world.  I'd happily pay $2.25 for a sleeve of real-world Z-Stars.

What a vitriolic ***!!!  This is a suggestion forum and that is exactly what I did.  Made a suggestion.  Crawl back into your hole and pretend you're Tiger with 300+ yard drives.  Do you even know which end of the club to hold???

Is this ^^^ what's vitriolic?. You can be as sarcastic as you want. When your rare post suggests RL prices should be equal on a comparative basis to this game, given you don't buy anything, then most people would probably scratch their head over your "suggestion".

Nothing vitriolic about it. You asked for opinions, and you got them.

ps. There was no need to tell people to crawl back into a hole simply because you didn't like the answer.

Not all...just you.  But I guess you're too slow to notice that it was a REPLY to your post and not a reply to all.

Is there something about my post that offends you?  A simple suggestion that a GAME that wants to claim how realistic it is, could possibly make their pricing more realistic gets you going?  Or do you bash all ideas that aren't yours?

I never asked for opinions, I offered a suggestion, since that is the board I posted on.

You're the only one that needs to crawl back into your hole.  Why do you feel the need to bash someone based on their opinion?  Are you that insecure?

Just because I choose to spend my real dollars elsewhere, doesn't make my suggestion worthless. "Most people scratch their heads"???  I guess you are the new official spokesman for WGT.  Now that we know that only your opinion matters, we can go back to our mundane lives knowing that you have it all under control.

I began playing this game in 2009 when everything here was free.  The site owners have chosen to charge for add-ons that can make you feel like a real tour star.  Good for them for being able to tap into people's egos and make a buck while doing so.

I choose to spend my real dollars on things that really matter...games don't.
