Basically a general question on the mentioned subject.

Whilst playing a Matchplay with my friend in the morning on Best of Par 3s, on the 8th hole I think it was, I had a 208yards tee shot over water with 28 feet down. My own fault, dinged way early and ball hit the bank and rolled down into the water but there was no water splashing sound.. Lost ball.

When it came to take my next shot, I was placed on the left hand side of the course, right on the edge on some apparent tee off pont with my new ball placed on a tee and showing a distance of 61 yds to the hole.

I could not even see my own avatar even when changing camera angles. Whilst studying this I ran out of time as we had a short timer and I got a warning. What surprised me then was when it came to take my shot, I was no longer on the left side but my ball was now mysteriously in the water and was classed as a "WATER LIE" some 17yds from the hole but I could not select a club to take the shot.

In 5 years on this game I have never come across this.

Now the question, how does one take a shot from a water lie?

    Thx for any answers

    Oshi

Sorry, no answer from here because this is new to me. Every now and then, you get a "Jesus shot", standing/floating above the water for a shot from the fringe, but this one is different.

    A screenshot would be nice...!

Unfortunately no screen shot. I was that dumbfounded when I saw the two situations I just did not think to capture the "moment"

However, it actually declared me as having a "water" lie

I will maybe try to contact WGT and find out if it is a bug, or one of those 1 in a million occurrences.

    Thx anyway

    Oshi
