Is there a way to turn off the music but still hear the invitation alerts?

you could try setting music to 0 in the game options and then see if that would still allow you to hear invites

I always have the music slider bar shut down so I don`t have to hear the music. I`ll turn it up when playing CTTH so the heartbeat sound works but, I also get bombarded with sound from friends logging on or off.

The same control for music, friends logging on or off, and heartbeat sound for CTTH seems a bit crowded, never mind having invite alerts connected also :)

I tried it and, unfortunately , that control affects invites also. It would be nice to just have the invites sound on and everything else off.  It would help - especially when you are not at your screen.

    I hear ya,

I suspect it's not as easy as we think. I can make few inquiries, but I suspect it maybe harder to do than I think.
