I am just curious,- I understand that the general playing conditions like green speed and wind level are equal to all players. How ever I can't help but wonder if the wind direction for each player actually is the same?

it probably evens out over time but it appears to me that some player might get different wind conditions than others? in some tournaments I got 25-30 mph wind on about 70% of the holes straight in my face. not playing badly, I still got beat at the same tier by 7-8 strokes. That is always possible, but very unlikely...

Anyone knows if wind direction varies?

Well Sky D, you are giving bullseye hammer strokes to your assumption. Each tournament player receives singular wind conditions concerning mostly direction. The designation of med or high velocity can mean a set of variables that are again singular while mutually exclusive in everything else. Player A may get wind that enables them to slaughter player B only because of this defect.

No disrespect intended SP, In simple English the answer to your question is NO. Play a unlimited tourney multiple times. Are the wind directions always the same?. Same thing happens in single play tourneys. You get what you get and someone else may get different.

It has been an unfair problem since day 1.

With the "no disrespect" phrase, I believe garyk49 is suggesting you didn't answer the OP with simple English. He wasn't suggesting that you asked a question. :-)

Quite correct.  I probably used the wrong quote.  The no disrespect was added as an afterthought, after I had typed the line about simple(maybe I should have actually used plain) to insure I was not showing you any disrespect SP. I was trying to tell the OP the same thing you were saying(I think) I had to reread your post a couple of times to understand what you were saying.  I am sure the OP may have had the same thing happen.

And Robert was correct as you also Lily.  You did not ask a question.

Don't get me started on wind direction.. it should be simple for all players to have the same conditions (i.e., wind direction) for the same event, but the geniuses at WGT haven't mastered it... or they choose not to.

thanks a lot for the feedback. that explains it then ... I wouldn't mind that on low or moderate wind speeds but in high winds, off the tee we are talking in excess of 50 yards difference ... that surely reflects the score

That's cause people with 10+ accounts would kill the course every time ;-) Imagine having 10 practice shots in the same conditions to get it right.

Man they can't even list the correct wind and green speeds in bracket tournaments, much less do anything else ...
