Since being promoted to Tour Pro I am considering buying a set of Max distance balls.  And I have  a questions is the extra distance just on the tee shot, or will I have to adjust my calculations for approach and close range shots including putting?

The distance will come into play on every shot, but you'll have to take into account the amount of spin the balls have. More spin, less distance on full bs shots.

But, DO NOT buy the max distance balls. Cause their specs are godawful for their cost. Buy Nikes for the same amount and you'll get a 10 times better performace overall.

P.S.: You're using Max slow meter balls now, the meter on the Max distance ones will be soooo much faster it'll make your head spin.

    Except putting.

Try a 9 hole practice round (or 2) with the starter ball - then buy ANYTHING but that lousy Max ball (unless you have stock in WGT). You really aren't going to improve your driving distance (except by Dinging the Driver) until you reach higher levels and can buy a better club.  As you progress, you'll find that the irons / wedges that you play will do more to lower your score than a booming driver.

Thanks for the advice everyone, think I'll stick with my current selection of ball for now.

Just to estimate the improvement in distance for every ball, do you think that it's correct to calculate 1% in distance for every point of distance in the characteristics of the ball?

For example, can I assume that the difference between these two Nike ball wil be 1,5% in distance?

With a driver with distance of 282yds, without wind, spin, etc., should I get 282*1.035=291.87yds with L60 and 282*1.050=296.10yds with L81?

Is it possbile, in the same way, that a full back spin shot with these balls will lose about 4% in distance (due to the 4.0 in Spin)?

Now take a Nike VR Forged Pitching Wedge (Spin 3.5) with the L81 ball (Spin 4.0): will I lose 7.5% of the distance in a full back spin shot?
    I should have 115yds (normal PW Distance) * 1.05 (for the ball's bonus in distance) * 0.925 (for club+ball's spin) = 111,69yds...

Do you think that all this math could be correct?

Thanks in advance for your replies!

Rather not. I never heard of any numerical or even linear relation between points and characteristics. "More" just says "better".

Trying to calculate to that degree will drive you nuts. Just play a few rounds until you get the feel of it. Then start adding/substracting backspin to mess up your head again. Then, once you've got it down perfectly, upgrade to the level 90 blacks, and start all over.

    It's the WGT Way.

Ok, alosso, but it must exist a relation, a mathematical relation, between the stats:

Take two ball with 4.0 distance bonus: ok, they play better than 3.0 ones... but a 4.0 Volvik should travel at the same distance of a 4.0 Nike... 'cause if it's not so, why do they have the same rating?

Furthermore, WGT have to calculate the distance of my shot, so there must be a way to do that count!

I know that two clubs with the same spin rating could behave in different ways and this could go beyond the stats of the club. But with the same club, if you change the ball, you can't start over your knowledge and experiences... Even if in this randomness is hidden the WGT's profits!

    (numbers added)

    LucaB76:
    (1) it must exist a relation, a mathematical relation, between the stats:

    (2) Take two ball with 4.0 distance bonus: ok, they play better than 3.0 ones...

(3)but a 4.0 Volvik should travel at the same distance of a 4.0 Nike... 'cause if it's not so, why do they have the same rating?

    (1) The relation is "better" or "worse", but not "equal"

    (2) agreed, see above.

    (3) I wouldn't bet on this, though the only analogy that I have is that balls with the same "durability" number may differ in the number of shots they take.
