I assume that we all play or have played golf.  None of us has broken 60, or likely 65.

Can somebody help me to see the pleasure in shooting sub-60s on the US Open qualifier, which is so tough a course?  Or on the Old Course?  Or anywhere?

When scores are that low. doesn't the utter lack of realism suck all the enjoyment out of it?

Will I have more fun if I shoot ridiculous scores?

[yes, this comes from a "glad to break 70 on WGT" guy]

I agree with you about the scores being unrealistic, but I have a friend who caddies on the European and US PGA tour and he says the courses on here, especially the greens are so realistic it's as close to the real thing you will ever get.

The reason why the top pro's hardly ever shoot below 60 is because they don't have  knowledge of wind  speed and direction, a putting grid that tells them distance from the pin and where to aim. They also don't have a meter that tells them exactly how hard to hit the ball.

I'm pretty sure if they had all this help, you would see scores below 60 every week.

    P.S

I.ve broken 65 many, many times playing real golf . )

    Not at all.

Similar to what the poster above suggests, I look at low scores as what people could potentially score if they had virtually perfect knowledge of all parameters of the game (precise numbers for yardage, wind, spin, club as well as ball characteristics, and course idiosyncrasies). Given that level of knowledge and control, these are the potential scores.

So yes, I get a lot of enjoyment from shooting a 28 or 29 for 9 holes from legend tees. i rarely do it, but I enjoy it when it happens.

Yes!!!! It means your mastering the "game" as it is....

I admit, I was more excited about getting all 120 Stars on Mario brother and all 200 Bananas on Donkey Kong Nintendo 64....but I love shooting 24-27 here too, it is just as exciting as breaking 80 was on a real course , and the 1st par round, with less walking! LOL
