who has done the upgrade and is it the same irons ,just 0.5 precision better ?

so the 4.5 spin is the same ?

    trajectory is the same etc?

those that have made the upgrade , I would love a few opinions.

Those that have not, please stay out of this.

    Siggi

Hi,i had the same clubs and upgrades,i think you will find the left and right accuracy will improve dramatically, but front to back distances will take a bit to get used to depending on the balls you use (a 3.5 spin nike ball only needs 3 quarters spin)You will actually love the clubs and will be surprised at the fact you can actually downgrade on balls with the nike irons and hit pinpoint shots consistently.

Good player like yourself will see the difference there is, and it's not much.  Running a business I would say don't, but there is a bit extra fizz somewhere......Nice new toy, and with the VUSO qualifying in full swing :)

I have the L100 irons, and the only real thing between me and a good score is lack of play lately, not the clubs L100 / 97 / even L90s........we all qualified OK with all sets

Basically be nice to blame my equipment but the L97s were fine, and so were the L90 (R11s in my case butt free rented the L90s and all just super top shelf irons the L90 ones and up)..........

Anyway back to trying to remember how to putt, and getting my wedge play going again....Be nice to qualify :)...GL with choices from the worlds worst person to ask what to do in a toy shop, LOL.

I went from the old R11s (the predecessor to the current TMs?) to the 97 Nikes (have the Vapors now) and while the stats on the surface seem to be the same, that .5 extra in precision does make a difference.

The biggest gain I saw with the Nikes was how the 3,4 and 5 irons worked over the R11s-they held greens much better. While it's easy to spend your money, I'd jump on the 97s in anticipation of eventually getting the Vapors. You won't be sorry.  :-)

You have pretty much everything you need to be a top player . If you are going to upgrade anything I would suggest that you get the L96+Versa instead . Like Jim I went from the R11s to the 97+ Nike irons . They were a big difference more so due to the slower meter . You can get a better ball for better results to what you are now getting .

According to your stats you have a very solid game as it is . This is why I suggest go for a better putter . The most important place for you to improve your game will be on the greens .You already have the fire power to get it done from the tips so let your focus be cleaning up on the greens . You will get more out of the putter than you will new irons .

So start with the putter and wait for the irons you wont be sorry .As the saying goes "You drive for show and putt for dough " . :-)

Personally, I found that being able to control the approaches better gave me a better distance to pin number and the putting improved because of that.

Well considering that he has a

    G.I.R. 87.86 %

Dist 2 Pin 11ft. so he has a good short game .

He is also a solid putter and being so already he could still improve enough to shave a few more strokes off of his game . Although a short game is very important its putting that wins the game everytime look at Phil Mickelson . He can do everything well except putt and thats why he cant win .

Hmm, 4000 credits for a putter vs 4000 credits for irons that can reduce that 11 ft to pin. The short game isn't what changes that number, the approaches are and that's where, IMO, he'll get better value in the long run by going with better irons.

In the hands of very good players, such as the OP, and played him personally enough to say he has a great game, I think worth a look irons wise.  Great fun skyping with him discussing options too.

Putter wise I would hold it's what you are comfortable once you hit the L70 Versa territory, and that includes the L94 Nike.  Bloke in my place has been doing very well in RGs lately with the L70, and of course walked a quick and early VUSO finals spot with it.  Lower down in Legend tier another guy has come through, and won his first L RG wit it - super little putter.

Irons wise I think the OP will get the free rental on tiering up?  I would say really test the spin with his ball of choice, and really look at stopping on the long irons at hard to stop places included.  I would say enjoy the intoxication and the pro saying look into my eyes, and buy:)......

From memory (just a free rental) I think the L97s edge it, but near a coat of paint between all the L90 and on sets, and most of that is in the eyes of the beholder of a good player, IMNSHO :)........

Back to practice mode here.  Had a good front 9 in the VUSO qualifications but some poor wedge selections and putting selections I through in the towel early on the B9.  I think overwhelmingly all the woes are not understanding / remembering shots / putts for most people, not the people this thread BTW.  Practice mode to get some rust off and hopefully get a score in that counts for qualification:)

    All very much JMO ;)
