I run a fairly young club called Mercia England Golfers Association MEGA.

We currently have around 90 members and have a good turnout for both our free and prize tournaments.

However, we do not have much member activity in our club forum and this is a concern for me as I am trying to build a club with help from my members. I want thier ideas and imput to help me run it for them. Without member participation sharing ideas and suggestions via the club forum it is difficult.

Do other club owners have the same issue and can anyone give me any tips on how I can increase club forum participation please.

We also have a vacancy for a club director if any one is interested in helping me take this club forward please contact me.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Set up a gamevox or Skype page for your CC, get your members talking during games.Encourage them to use the club forum too. Ideas can be discussed and team spirit is strengthened. It's far better fun in games than typing in a glitch ridden chat box.

I'm not an owner but we have the same situation in our CC and it's a bit frustrating but some people are just not comfortable with the process, for whatever reason.

One thing you can do that may help is to use the message board you see in the game client under your CC. Reference a thread in the forum and ask that everybody read it. In that post you can lay out your wants and see what pans out. Might also be a good way to find out who wants to stay a member.

I have always enjoyed prattling on in forums, but it is not for everyone.

All I strive to do in our CC is make the members feel their comments are being listened to and any suggestions etc are taken note of.

Me thinks that you must make your members WANT to be in the forum. Possible starters are e.g.

    - tournaments which require at least to read, like a championship series with assembled results or a match play ladder,

    - a series of teaching posts to help them improve their game,

    - a culture of praise for outstanding achievements like tourney wins, HIOs, tier changes...

Of course, advertised in the CC messages.
