I've been reading the forums and I get that it's going to take me some time to make any real progress, but since I have yet to play a vs. game I haven't had chance to get an tips or feedback.

To be honest I feel like I'm doing ok, but if there's anythng in my stats that stands out as something that needs work I'd rather know now before any bad habits get ingrained :)

If anyone can be bothered to have a squiz over my stats and provide any pointers I'd really appreciate it!

I've been using the cheap slo meter balls, but I'm also saving to use the calloways as my regular ball, but I'm still trying to map my clubs behaviours out so using high level balls will only throw that out (is this right?)

If there is a +5 slo meter ball without any other benefits please let me know (as long as it isn't 1000 creds of course :))

    Cheers,

    Newt

My advise would be to don't go crazy buying clubs... rather settle on a good ball (Nike RZN L 61 is a good one) and stick with it.  Also, use a wired mouse, response time is more consistent than with wireless. And on menu page, go to options and put flash quality to low.  Graphics not as good, but meter much smoother.

Thanks Jo, I think I've spent enough on clubs already ;) so I'm not going to buy any more until I can get the best out my current ones.

I appreciate the other advice, but I'm playing on an ipad mini, so unfortunately it won't help me much, but thanks anyway.

Overall I would say you are doing very well for the time and the number of rounds you have played.  So, in general, have fun and keep doing what you are doing, and continue getting tips from the forums and your country club members.

I also agree to stick with your equipment for a while so you (and others) can better characterize your strengths and weaknesses.  You will also get a better feel for performance differences when you try a new club or ball if you are more familiar with your existing equipment.

The one observation I would make is to diversify your course play to experience different fairways, approaches, wind conditions, elevations, green textures etc.  A good place to start might be Bethpage Black for a "calibration" to your game play.  There are easier and harder courses out there but BPB is a good exercise to prepare for all.

Thanks Keith, I guess I have been sticking to one course :)

I think I was trying to learn it before moving on but I see now that it could be restricting my shot variety - good call.

    A word on this part:

Yes, "longer" balls need new mapping. Then, also the higher spin rate will affect the flight, so you'd have to consider shot lengths with top spin and back spin, too.

In general, "slow" is expensive here and is not combined with the best of performances in other fields. Your clubs are on the slow side, so you might try & get used to some quicker balls. Compare your balls to the Tour-SD: It's only 1 credit more, but it has 2 distance and 2 spin (but 10 shots less). The Nikes named before are 500 cr and are wasted unless you have clubs of the same class (or level).

Also, you are not too far from the next tier and the next longer tees: Master at 67.00 average! You might want to think of a new driver then ;)

    Have fun!!

Thanks Aloso, I just played a round on Bethpage Black and for some reason my shots were coming up a lot shorter than I expected. I think I need to pay more attention to first bounce distance ;)

I managed to scrape a 65, and that was with a double-bogey! And can someone explain in what Universe a 502y hole is a par4, especially when it's a dog leg?!? No way I could reach that green in two :(

Still, I enjoyed the change of scenery and it's really highlighted the kind of shots I've been missing just playing St.Andrews.

There are so many variables it makes my head spin, no wonder I can't shoot straight! :)

Regarding club choice and meter, even with these clubs and a +2 slo ball I still can't hit the ding, like, ever :))
