    Need to clarify this pls.

Do the Best of Par 3/4/5 courses count as a ranked round for promotion.

I know they don't count for average,  but just the ranked rounds needed for promotion to new Tier as I'm getting questions from club members.

I've tried searching for answer but come up with different answers.

    Thx

    -Roger

Roger, best of 4s count towards average and ranked rounds. n3s and 5s don't.

    Thanks Paul.

Ok, Par4's  are ranked rounds, but do they count for saturation towards Promotion

Only saying,  your average can drop to well under the required average,  but not enough ranked rounds played

    It's confusing nomenclature.

Any stroke play course may be played either as a) tournament, b) ranked or c) practice rounds. a) and b), that is those rounds which appear in the score history, count towards the "ranked rounds" number in the stats, but...

...only those rounds of a) or b) with an 18 hole par of 60 to 80 will count for the average, both in number count and score.

Vulgo, Par3s and Par5s are excluded from average calc but may count towards "ranked rounds".

I don't think so. It took me 520 rounds to saturate as Legend. The 3s and 5s didn't count toward the 500.

This is what I said - in other words.

WOW. A lot of words said and it is still not clear whether playing the par 3 and par 5 courses count as ranked rounds for promotion to a higher tier.

My understanding is that par 3 and par 5 courses DO COUNT as ranked rounds. That is easy enough to find for yourself. Just look at your stats and check the number of ranked rounds you have before and after you play a par 3 or a par 5 course.

The question which is not so easy to answer is, "Does playing a par 3 or a par 5 course count as a ranked round toward my promotion to a higher tier?" As far as I know wgt has NEVER published anything that states their requirements for tier promation. [Those whose knowledge is far greater than mine will correct me here.]  I believe all that has been said about tier promotion comes from us players and is based on our past experience.

It's a tad complicated because there are two different issues, with some confusing naming involved.

Yes they do, as far as ranked + tournament rounds are concerned. Those strokeplay rounds that are in the score history do count as ranked rounds in the overall stats.

Easy to answer because it is (partly) stated in the FAQs =>

As said before, they do not count toward tier promotion.
