Those are 2 separate things:
- add someone as a friend
- invite someone for a game
You simply visit that player's webpage and you have buttons there for both of these actions, in the line over the player's name and avatar. Also, while you are in a game, you can click a player's name in the top left corner, and the button ADD AS A FRIEND also appears on the player's profile card that pops up.
