So when I have a putt on a champ or tourney green of, say 28 feet, downhill 6 inches, for some reason my a hole caddie slides me my 50' putter when i only want to hit it 22 feet.

Needles to say, hilarity ensues.  I just probably got toasted in my bracket because this happened twice.

I really want this to change.  To a lesser, but still very real extent, I want that 100 credits back.  I need it.  This is costing me bracket entries about one out of every 3 or 4 i enter.

You do know that you can change your putter setting to 25' ?

Never assume anything, ignore the caddy and check every club and scale choice yourself.

And/or turn him off in game settings.

+1 Never trust the caddy at any point and time . Sad to say though that even after turning the caddy off it does no good on or around the greens . I dont know why WGT thinks we still need the caddy when putting . I hate it when the game changes the increments on my putter . Maybe need to start a new thread on this with a poll and see what the player feed back would be . If enough players respond to get WGT to stop that crap it just might stop .

That won't change a thing IMHO, because the same scale will come up when you select the club.

It's not a bug, that's just how the game is setup and you just need to learn not to trust the caddy.

If the caddy gives you a putter scale that's too low what happens after you leave it short,  get mad that the caddy didn't give you the longer putter?   ;-)

It is up to each of us to check our putter scale or club selection before taking your shot. The caddy usually gives you 1 club too much on approach shots and at least 1 or 2 scales to high on putts.

That is why WGT gave us the option to turn the caddy off in the game settings.

The silly caddy has been slapped enough in this thread, I'd like to say a word in his defence if I may.

I assume the scale before 50 feet is 25 with your putter?  The caddy never takes slope into account, it simply sees 28 feet and thinks it's further than a 25 foot scale will go so gives you the next one up.  It will also do that if you have slightly less than 25 feet, I'm not sure of the exact figure that triggers the change but it's certainly below the stated max for the scale.

Always, always check the putter scale.  Even when you do you'll still forget now and then and find yourself cursing.  It's just one of those things you have to laugh off.

For 22 ft, I'd always prefer the 50' scale to 25', because half the meter amplitude will reduce meter speed substancially. On slower green speeds, I might even go up another scale (30 - 60 => 90 on my Rossa).

OTOH, you might eventually learn to NOT trust any preset values on clubs!
