Problem with par 5 Hole at Congressional

There is a par 5 hole over water at Congressional that has an issue. When the flag is on the low side near the water and your putt goes past the hole, the putter sometimes faces away from the hole and can not be turned around. You therefore can not complete the putt. This happened to me in a single play game and just recently to my partner in an alternate shot game. Please check this problem and fix it.

I assume you play on a PC.

There are different cases where this "facing away" may occur.

1) The aiming marker is still on the flag but the avatar has turned, appearing like a lefthander.

In this case, the putt will work !to the right direction! regardless, and if you slightly move the marker, the avatar will turn around.

2) you see no aiming marker at the flag or elsewhere before you.

Then, you (or Sasquash) have moved the marker and the putt would hit to whereever it is. To find it, select the reverse view or use the mini map. Once you have positioned it behind the flag, you should be able to re-position it to your liking.

User's workarounds:

- in a solo round, save the game and return right away. Then, the set-up will (hopefully) be corrected.

- or, initiate a mini putt, low power, hit it far off the ding. You will lose a stroke but "win" a new set-up for the next putt.

Next time it happens to me, I'll take a screenshot - it looks as though your avatar is actually putting backwards between your legs!

It doesn't really matter which way your avatar is facing as the putt will go in the direction of the aim marker, even if your man/woman is facing in the opposite direction.

There's also issues with available pictures of that pin. Apparently they didn't rent a boat to take pics from the water and didn't think to go around to the other side to get some. You have to putt in reverse view on some lies because there's no front views.

Or if your ball gets near the brick wall the game will give you a free drop on the other side of the pond, or in the rough by the front of the green and will add 2 strokes to the card and you really dont get a free drop. It counts as if you hit in the water. Programmers did not map out the game right before they released it. Case in point your in the fairway and the game says your in the rough, or your OB and can still play the shot. WGT did not thoroughly test the game before release, which is why the game has so many bugs now and continue to get worse as time goes on. Thier programmers just dont have a clue on how to fix the issues. Heck they still cant figure out why CC owners cant delete thier forum posts.

Merion 15th also suffers from the same problem of a free drop which adds strokes.

Place:

Ball lands on the path to the left after drive.

Message:

Immovable obstruction. Terrain relief. free drop. (can't remember exact words but are to that effect) Ball is not OB and clearly states a free drop. Message would indicate that USGA rule 24-2 was being applied

Result:

Now playing 3 from edge of rough/ fairway. Penalty stroke added so no free drop...???
