    because it sucks.

I set up a 3 round premium tourney in my club, 2x 9 hole rounds and 1x 18 hole round all on the Best of Par 5's. The first two rounds were ok, but on the third there were winds of up to 29 mph.

In my case I had 3 crosswinds and 6 against on the front.

On the back I had 1 tailwind ( made eagle ) and all the rest were across or against.

Now for sure someone else playing the same comp will get a better wind set than me, but it has fcked up a good comp.

My members are thoroughly cheesed off with my tournaments and heavy winds are constantly selected by the 'Random' choice. I use random because I like different green speeds between slow and championship.

But from now on I am going to have to disregard 'random' until WGT do something about it.

One option would be to allow the organiser to review his tournament and be allowed to make adjustments in both the wind and green speed as preferred.

Equally the organiser should have the option to delete a tourney set up in error. Rather than go round the houses asking CS to delete, and then they say something like, wait for it to fill up as is the case in a bracket tourney one member mistakenly set up 3 times, each one for 2000 credits.

Why do you keep it on "Random"? Why not use "Advanced Options" right next to Random and choose the wind, green speed, etc. that you want it to be?

Random conditions are a great equalizer, and I use them in our monthly club championships.

I just shot round four of our July tournament on RSG, usually a track I score well on. In heavy winds I managed to finish at 2 over for 18-- including a triple bogey on 9, due to abject stupidity -- which I was actually proud of.

Real golf, folks, is played outdoors.

    Laziness I guess.

I have to do the creating, setting up, leaderboard spreadsheets, posting and whatever else.

Relying on random just takes some of the thinking away, but it patently does not work.

You would have to see the job John is doing with regular comps in our CC to get why he prefers the random function. He has a very aggressive schedule of tours, not just tournaments, that keep him very busy just maintaining control. The random function is a big help but is skewed to high winds.

I am one of the whiners because in 4-4 round tournaments going now, 8 of the 16 rounds have high winds. WTF is up with that? WGT doesn't even go that far in their setups. Allowing editing of the "random" pick before posting the tournament would solve the problem.

One other option maybe, would be to delegate some of the tourney setting to someone who the OP would trust to set tourneys to his high standards.

I set the majority for our, admittedly small CC and use the "Advanced" settings option, much easier to control green speeds and winds etc, but that is my personal choice. Each to their own and I would certainly not say my way is right, just my choice.
