I just got done playing a ready go with heavy wind and "easy" pin placement.  If you look at my replay titles "epic fail", you'll see why I laugh at easy being used.  (I would add the link but I don't know how you do that yet) I would hate to see what hard pin placement would be for that course.

At least 3 of the holes were on the edge of the green that went downhill.  Tough go.

Anyway, I love the challenge of Oakmont but this last Ready Go definitely tamed me.  Yikes.

I agree with you as a decent golfer myself outside this game I know that you can't put a pin to close to the edge of the green and WGT haven't done that but you also have to place the pin on a reasonably flat surface away from slopes on the green and WGT has not done this at all. I have played many good golf courses even some with bigger slopes on the green than Oakmont but never ever seen pin placements on the edge of slopes or even on the slope this is because your not allowed to.

The way the pins are placed at oakmont it doesn't even reward a good shot most of the time. Would be far better if the pins were placed so that if you hit a good shot you were rewarded and only punished for the bad shots.

Well, the moral of this story I guess is... don't hit long and left on #2 at Oakmont.

Bad break there Madden (no pun intended).

With the acception of the 9th @ oakmont i would say all the pins are tough, but there all excessible from the fairway and if u hit a decent drive in the fairway then you can attack most of them and with course management you will learn which ones to attack and which ones not to, the only main difference between St Andrews and Oakmont is that you have learn what the greens will do on Oakmont and allow for it

Me personally i think this make Oakmont the best course on here cause you hit a bad shot you get punished, you hit a good shot you get a tricky birdie chance, but if u hit the great shot u get an easy birdie, but its all course management

Yea, I really like Oakmont and Bethpage because they challenge the heck out of me.  It's funny how much different Oakmont is on normal/fast greens from my amateur/hack days and Oakmont on Very Fast greens.  It really challenges you.

Another reason I love the Ready Go's for your individual level.  I have been consistently profitable despite routinely being in the -2 to +1 range on those courses.

By the way, when I tried the follow up putt on Oakmont (from above), the green had yellow lines.  When the slope is rated in feet, you know it's going to be rough.  :D

scrap that.  Just played another ready go at Oakmont with "Easy Hole Placement", heavy wind and very fast greens and just posted a +6 for 9 holes.  I had a triple (5 putt) and a double (3 putt).

I think I'm done with Oakmont for a while.  :)
