For the most part, I play by feel as well. Besides, I doubt that if I were to take notes that it would help me all that much anyway. It would just slow me down in missing the shot! :-)

very fair comment.  Personal goals vary and you can do OK without ever sitting down and getting some serious mapping and hole specific notes going.  With serious mapping (at some point) you can even start to do OK in RGs as you refresh your memory on any given courses nuances.

Chumps pooh poohing others that put in the effort, not you Robert, because they want to compete at a high standard or simply improve their game I feel should think again that's all.  Being a low low average "chump" is fine as WGT allowed it with red tees but zzz to others who want to master the game I don't see as necessary.

I agree. Very fair points as well.

I have to add that as the updates changed the gameplay, my notes were somewhat less effective (going back as far as Oct 2014 I believe)

But I make it a point that if I'm looking at notes (usually when I'm not using a starter ball) that I look as the screens are loading and I have the time to glance at the next shot written hints.

A great idea for me is that when I made the notes they were short and to the point. The brevity in the process helps. With notepadtabs open on my 2nd monitor, the course on one page, it's easy to simply glance over and it didn't require 'steps' to open and close the notes for each hole.

    edit:

Again some holes are observed by players to play long or short so the info provided by WGT is 'misleading' for lack of a better word. Taking note may help you to remember which ones.

Plus, some shots are posed w/ a 'parallax' and the avatar and angle is skewed so the wind indicator can be misleading. (that is a whole other VAST subject which can be found using in the forum search function) I make note of those occasions in the pad just in case I may overlook that case.

Notes and spreadsheets? Zzzzzzz.  Better to play by feel. More fun too.

Do you think the real pros play by feel alone? Why do you think their caddies have all those little note books they keep in their pockets to use when the pro is faced with a crucial shot.

Isn't all that info which the caddies carry already provided on WGT? Like distance to particular regions, contours of the green..

But what it doesn't include, which someone noted earlier in this thread, is information such as when a hole plays longer or shorter than its stated yardage. For example, it's been my experience that the par 3, 16th hole at RSG plays much shorter than it's stated distance of 165 yards.

I play almost all par 3 holes 2% shorter than the stated distance due to the fact that a ball hit off a tee will go slightly longer than a ball hit off the fairway. So my notes on par 3 holes is the distances less 2%. So I don't need to do the calculation every time I play the hole.

A few will say something like "add 5 yards to shot . But even if you make great notes if you don't read them during play they are worthless

Kept a notebook first couple years I played, and you're correct, a lot of the time I just didn't bother to look. Finally gave up keeping a notebook. I'm never going to get to the level that it would really make a difference I suspect. (by the way, interesting new profile photo)

Hey Tracymax, how are you? I would like for you to come back. I found out my top director was causing the problem about using a pass, He was let go a very long time ago due to harassing my members, and was posing with 2 accounts, he said stuff about alot of my members that just were not true. We now are level 10 and doing great with all new awsome Directors and you will never have to put up with the past nonsense again, Would like to chat with you. Was going to FI you but you have me blocked, Like your comments in the forums too. Hope to chat with you soon, also would have a Directors position for you if interested, 1 director is not doing his duty well and i know you would be more suited for the position. Thx Brother and peace.
