Do the European tours use meters? If so would be a good idea.
I believe the Europeans do but not the UK.
yds to meter woul robably be easy, but on the greens it would force us to do a lot of recalcuation and the precision would also have to change. Currently we have elevation in whole inches and distance in whole foot. Converting that directly to centimeters would look funny, and using 1 cm as smallest unit would make it a lot more precise than the ft/inch scale.

But only as an option, no forced metric stuff PLEASE. That is the weirdest system. Yes, I know it is more accurate. I remember back in the 70's when they tried to force the change here in the schools. It did not work to well. LOL
As someone in the sciences, I would have to say that the Imperial system is the weirdest one. Even though that's what I've grown up with using for 20-some years. I agree with you that it shouldn't be forced. Maybe make the increments in 0.1 meters, thats fairly close to ft/inch divisions.
Icon said it probably wouldn't happen too many things would have to change in the programming.
As a real player in real life, I use Skydroid.net on my Android phone to give me distances to the flag WITH the yards/meter option.
It sounds natural to all continental Europeans!
Thank you for having discussed this topic.
The metric system makes more sense but some of us are too old to change now.
a meter meter It already stutters enough dont you think?!? LOL
Happy Golfing
