I just started playing about a week ago. I have played about 15 practice rounds on various easy and moderate courses. I have watched the videos many times and really looked at the screen to make sure I don't miss anything. I read the hole introductions and try to take their advice. I also understand that there will be a learning curse in this game, that it will take practice and patience - like real golf. I am saying all of that because I don't want to sound ike a person complaining who hasn't made an effort to learn this online game and how it works. I am level 18.

The short game results here seems inconsistent to me. I am talking about shots from the fairway with a good lie with no big elevation changes.

I have  wedge with a 70 yard length. When I use it for a 30 yard shot and 50% of the swign bar, I get different results. Sometimes the shot comes up very short and sometimes it rolls past the hole. The backspin setting doesn't seem to work at all. (It does see to work drives for extra roll.)

Like I previously stated: I am not complaining (whining). I admit to being frustrated. But, I want to learn and improve. I seem to be getting better at reading the greens while putting. I seem to see improvement there. But, the short game is discouraging right now.

Can I please get some advice from some more experienced players here? (The player who got me hooked on this game is unavailable at the present time. So, I can't ask him.)

Note: After posting this I saw the FAQ column on the right side of the web page. I read the "Chip and Pitch Tips" entry which was very informative. So, a lot was answered there. I printed that out and hope to apply the instructions to my game. But, advice from experienced players would be appreciated, too.

(I tried to send a note to the Support Team to cancel this post. But, it was approved and, here it is! So, I added the Note.)

You carry a Starter SW of 70 yds but no LW (50 yds).

These Starter clubs have weak characteristics. For instance, they provide about no spin, and they react nonlinear in reduced power. When I played them, only full and punch shots would have mediocre results with 70-100% power, but less power or chip, pitch and flop didn't work out.

Re-equipping the LW will give you shorter shots of 70%.

About at L28 there are some unexpensive wedges in the Pro Shop as replacements. Take two short ones.

You have one wedge in your bag ?  Check out the legends and see what they have ?  3 wedges .

Don't use any club at 50 percent unless your in the sand trap .

Thank you. I appreciate the information on the starter club set. I was wondering if it was contributing to my problems - especially the lack of spin.

I will keep an eye out for an inexpensive replacement set and those wedges you mentioned. I do notice a difference when I rent a different driver. So, I will get some better wedges.

    Thanks.

I do occasionally get an opportunity to rent a full new set of clubs or wedges. I will keep a closer eye on their performance and try to buy a new wedge.
