Hey, I was really enjoying the Tour Pro Tier -- not winning any tournaments, but being in the top ten finally.  Now, today I am put in the Master Tier.  Dang!  Can I go back to Tour Pro if I shoot a bunch of bad rounds and get my average back up - or is this permanent?

Intentionally playing below your potential or capabilities, therefore gaining an advantage, is called sandbagging.  The practice is very much frowned on here as in real golf.  If you play your best, play all the courses and post all your scores, I'm sure the right tier will find you.

I hear ya, Joeyola, but I don't think it'd really be that much of an advantage to me to back in the Tour Pro Tier, just more fun.  Like I said, I never won a tournament there.  There was and is no reason for anyone to "fear" my competition.   I just think the method for advancing players ought to include winning at least one tournament in the player's current tier.  I probably won't play as much in Masters since I'll just get creamed again and again.  I think WGT will, therefore, be losing money on me, as there is a limit to how much money I want to "lose" myself.  I was happy with a few  50-cent winnings, but won't be happy with zero.

Give some thought to how much time you want to spend here...this place can be very addictive.  Remember, we can register for free, we can play for free, we can use Starter clubs and balls for free and we most certainly can play poorly for free.  But a quick look at our best players will show that they truly understand this game, they have talent, they use the best equipment and balls, they "*waste a lot of time" here and they all play until their fingers bleed.  Of course, it's up to each of us to decide what is best for them...the way I see it, we can play for fun and try having a life or............

The whole deal about this game is to get better. I don't understand why you would not want to do that!!!!! We all struggled when we started but by playing hard and buying better equipment most of us have moved up. I always looked at the game as a challenge and could no wait to move up. It has always been fun, very frustrating at times but always fun. I hope you decide to stay and become a legend. Happy Hitten and Good Luck.

I respectfully disagree.  The "whole deal" about this game is to get better AND TO PLACE HIGH IN SOME TOURNAMENTS.  I am a whole lot better than when I started, by dint of serious effort and "struggle."   But, just as I got good enough to START to be competitive in my tier, I got bumped up.  I still maintain that a win (or maybe two) (or maybe top five for five times) should be a criteria for changing tiers.  Just playing alot and getting points that way (and finally averaging close to par on a regular basis, finally) shouldn't be enough to put one in a place of total wipe-out again.  I've got 8.5 driver that I'm handling pretty well, and a great set of irons.  But, with my 2003 HP Pavillion with 133mhz processor, I think I'm at my limit in Pro Tier.  I do have an Ipad 2 on the way.  Can I play wgt golf on that -- without a mouse to click on the bar?
