Nice job on this spreadsheet Gary and Scott. The interface is well done and (to me) quite intuitive. I've been using my own spreadsheet (a slight modification of the one sent to me by KenZarley) for putting so I wanted to compare yours.
I find that the distance calculations for putting work very well with a couple of caveats.
First you have to be careful for fairly short putts. For example a 6 ft putt on Tourney greens (t12) with 0 elevation gives a power reading of 4.5 ft. If you putt this distance you are most likely to be disappointed because the putt will come up short. (Yes I checked the elevation for a few feet past the hole to make sure it stayed zero.) I would hit this putt 5.5 feet or more to make sure that the putt is not short.
Second for long putts with significant elevation up the recommended power will result in your putt being long. For example on Merion #1 I tested the spreadsheet with the following results:
Putt dist (ft) Elevation (in) = Distance past hole (ft)
23 +6 = +3
30 +7 = +4
36 +10 = +4
46 +14 = +4
I have the same problem with the spreadsheet I use so I know it's a challenging problem.
Keep up the good work gentlemen. So far JOB WELL DONE!
