I know all about "Twitch TV"... That's well and good for things like recording and posting on youtube. For the average WGT'er though, the process is just too much to go through.

However, a true "Spectator Mode" built into WGT would be so much better. When you set-up a game, you would have the option to turn "Spectator Mode" on or off. When turned on, anyone on your friends list would be able to join your game in progress as a "spectator" and watch.

This would be such a great option for CC's. Imagine being able to watch CC tournament play-offs, or just watch a pick-up game in your club.

Who would not love this option? BTW: MS Links had this option years ago...

    TopShelf2010:

In theory this is a good idea. However, as there are known issues with Multi-player games, could you imagine the issues if 100 people decided to join and watch at one time?

Your idea is a good one but I think it may end up causing more harm than good.

It would depend on how they interfaced the spectators. Active players would not see the spectators. The only indication they might see is how many spectators are viewing. Spectators would be able to come and go through-out the game. If done the right way, it should not affect game play..

Spectators would only be able to watch... No chat ability or view options. They would just watch...

I'd love to see this option.  But I'd vote for a First Person spectator view like they have in say Battlefield Series.  It would be great to watch the top players exact moves, %, shot choice, Ding/late, etc.

Off the top of my head, I can only think of a few things that would be more boring than to stare at my computer and watch someone else playing a video game.

LoL.  then I must be a super nerd.  I watch hours and hours of Starcraft II.  GSL!!, WCS Regionals, 2016 Dreamhack Montreal, IEM Shanghai Finals just finished 2 or 3 weeks ago, etc.

Yes. It would be possible to have in reality only one extra participant, a bot recorder that would just send the data to another server that would act as an accessible viewing port for the spectators to use. In this way, the actual game wouldn't be affected much if at all. Any overload glitches would only be seen on the other server. There'd be some "tape" delay, but that wouldn't be a real problem.

WGT has to fix all the current problems before adding more silly stuff

Great Idea , I sent WGT a letter from our club last year ( customer service ) LOL

This spectator thing was on the list , They said  "we will look at your ideas" .

I played poker when it was legal to gamble on line , And there was a option to watch a game or tournament .

I have seen a lot of ideas go through these forums in the past couple of years ,  Unfortunately we get Cat balls !
