Please fix the dates in the country clubs

  Hello

   

  There is a problem i guess with players from different regions and the date last played tab in the country club. Since in US the day and month are opposite of the ones in Europe for example, it really is a pain to find dead players in your club. You could also add like a check box when removing players, since you have to reload after every member you remove and need to select the last played tab again. So it takes me around 10-20 seconds just to remove them.

  It has been reported here years ago that this sort is bogus - no reaction or fix!
  (and I still wonder how it's possible to mess up such a simple and unambiguous sorting algorhythm! - "Entry date" which was available earlier was just perfect!)

  As a sort of owner's crutch you might want to mark "suspicious" players as Recruits. AFAIS, this will push them down in this sorting. When they return to play, just make them Members again.

  well its bad the way it is. i m pretty sure its because the date is not in the right format in the database. and since the database must be massive, its not easy to change.

  but yeah it really ruins the clubs, i got other things in life to do, and want to use my time efficiently.

  well it will not really help, since all new players are recruits anyway.

  Some CC maintenance is a necessary task of an owner. One item is to care for the member status, because that determines the permissions (see owner's tools).

  Yes, noobs are recruits, and I leave them there until the have proven active participation in the game. Then (usually after about a month) I move them to "member". But, many of them lose interest soon and stay Recruits.

  One default in the permissions is that anybody except Recruits can create tournaments. I left it that way.

  As I said, I declare inactive members Recruits again. By that, newbies in probation and inactives are in the same pot. If appropriate, I select some of them to be pushed out. And if I overlooked somebody due to the bad sorting, I'm gonna find him the next time.

   

  BTW: You will find a massive no. of inactive recruits in my CC. I leave them there for the sake of the number (200+), and there's plenty of space for new players...

  How about copying the data and pasting it into Excel? Correcting the date format once in Excel is a fairly simple matter (click) and then you can sort the data any way you wish.

  Good advice, but don't try this when your Excel expects German date format dd.mm.yyyy!
  Days below 13 are converted to months, exchanging month and day values.
  E.g., 12.07.15 becomes July 12th 2015.
  Days above 12 result in illegal dates, accepted as texts: "12.15.15"

  My conversion formula is lengthy:

  =WENN(LÄNGE(C19)>5;DATWERT(TEIL(C19;4;3)&TEIL(C19;1;3)&TEIL(C19;7;2));DATWERT((MONAT(C19)&"."&TAG(C19)&"."&JAHR(C19))))

  The text to columns command will always take the first number as the month if you specify that format in the 3rd step of the text to columns wizard.

  Not available in Excel 2003 I'm afraid, and it's a manual procedure - my formula works automatically (I used this in transpositions of the score history to calculate the average).

  Worst of all, AFAIK, the conversion I described takes place in the moment of pasting. Then, the "fitting" dates are converted to Office date format and stored in integer numbers - hence the "length > 5" enquiry. I see no way to avoid that.

  The 'Text to columns' is available in Excel 2003 as far as I'm aware. Try looking in the 'Data' drop down menu.

  Yep, it's there - "again what learned"!

  It also covers the different formats - all types of mangled dates are treated correctly.

  But, as month & day & year are separated in three columns, you still have to put them back together for a date. => Apply the standard formula.

  To me, it's easier to apply my one-step formula right away than to perform the multi-click operation "text-to-columns" and then still have to apply a formula.

  Nevertheless, thanks for the insight!
